MTO 15th Anniversary Magnetic Project

Hi, everyone!


For years, this has been a very special gathering place for many of our members, and thru out all the challenges and postings, I have the privilege to get to know many of you and this has always been a place I'm proud to call home.  Come this July it will be the 15th Anniversary of MTO, and I have been thinking what I could contribute or give back to celebrate this special occasion.



Some of you probably may have participated in a challenge or two in the past two years, and would know about the little free fridge magnets I have been giving out for all the challengers. 


I am thinking maybe I could make a magnet just to celebrate the 15th anniversary.  And in order to give back to the forum, I am proposing for any donor whom have donated $30usd from 1st April to 30th Sep 2021, will be eligible to get a 'supporter' magnet.  And if the $30 donor is also a Charter member by the end of Sep 21, he/she will be eligible for an additional magnet for free.

Depending where you are, it boils down to roughly donating 1-2 Starbuck coffee a month?  Hopefully this will generate a little extra income for the forum, which is much needed.  And also a way to say thank you to all our already supportive members.  I have bounced this idea by Grant, and am glad to get his nod of approval on the project.  By the end of Sep 2021, I will try to get the supporter list from Grant(or please do feel free to let me know)and reach out to our supporters for mailing address, the magnet(s) will be sent to you once they are made in Fall 2021.


What do you all think about this?  The design of the magnet is in progress, if you would like to contribute ideas or just interested in the news on this, please stay tuned!

Start a new thread and post a photo of the minimal sak (2 layers or fewer) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of either an Axe, MT/Folding knife or Fixed blade (picked at the beginning of challenge) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a Spyderco knife for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of a different blade each day for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Soldier for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Cybertool (any variant), Swisschamp, Champion or Toolchest for thirty (30) consecutive days. Cool idea. I'd sugest a cake, with knives/multitools as candles, but 15 of them will be difficult to see.

Hmmm...that's an interesting idea, didn't ever think of that.  :think:

I'm trying to find some common theme that our members could identify with, something that kinda tie us together, or uniquely MTO.  I have a few ideas, but would love to hear everyone's thoughts on that.

I put a fair amount of thought into what makes our MTO experience unique and different from other online social gatherings.  The answer has always come back to the people on this forum--and what tie us all together(besides tools and bacon), has always been the great friendships forged by various challenges and discussion on tool collecting.

So for the MTO 15th anniversary fridge magnet design, I downloaded and resized 110 of some of the most popular/interesting merit badges we have on site.  I have participated in many forums in my past, but these challenges surely are one of the more unique experiences we could all relate to MTO. :cheers:

Here are the two initial drafts I have for Magnet #1, A or B?

Merit Badges Participants shall carry and use one Soldier knife, the model of their choosing, for the duration of the 90 days and post a picture each day. Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a 'folding hunter' knife that isn't a Buck 110 for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a challenge thread and post a photo of a Victorinox 91mm XAVT/XL/XLT, 111mm Workchamp XL, Wenger/Delemont S54/Tool Chest Plus or Wenger Giant for thirty (30) consecutive days Using EDC items randomly selected with a poker hand, post a photo of your EDC or a component of the EDC that got used during the course of the day for 4 weeks (or 30 consecutive days) Start a new thread and post a photo of the 111mm sak for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the minimal sak (2 layers or fewer) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of either an Axe, MT/Folding knife or Fixed blade (picked at the beginning of challenge) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a Spyderco knife for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of a different blade each day for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Soldier for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Cybertool (any variant), Swisschamp, Champion or Toolchest for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Fieldmaster SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the discontinued sak/mt for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of a fixed blade for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Explorer SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of any gear for thirty (30) consecutive days during the MTo anniversary month. Start a new thread and post a photo of the leatherman (supertool, core, hacks) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Vic Spirit MT for sixty (60) consecutive days.
