The tool itself :dd:

First impressions are very good :salute: It is very PST like but a bit beefier 8)

I just so happen to have a few similar tools to compare it by :D

Here is my similar tools in order of release

The PST, PST II,  Pulse, Rebar and Bond :salute:

You can definitely see the similarities in the DNA strand :D You can also see that LM have come full circle with the PST in its evolution as well :o :like:

I left the PST II out in some of the pics since the PST and it have the exact same chasis

The thickness of the Bond is very similar to the PST, it is much slimmer than both the Rebar and the Pulse :o Not much thicker than a PST :ahhh

Rebar to the left and Bond on the right  :tu:

Pulse in the left and Bond on the right :tu:

PST on the left and Bond on the right :tu:

On to handle splay  The Rebar is known to have a larger splay the the PST and I am glad to report that the Bond has less splay than the Rebar and is very similar to a PST I'm this aspect as well  :salute:

PST on the left and Bond on the right  :tu:

Rebar on the left and Bond on the right :tu:

The PST and Bond are so similar and that makes me happy :like:

The toolset is the same with both but the Bond has updated versions of them :like:

That was a fantastic write up/comparison Poncho65.

I think I'll skip the Bond unless I see it at retail but it looks like it answers a lot of concerns with modern Leatherman that fans of the old school tools missed.

I actually tried scissors (from Wave/Charge/Blast/Fuse) and diamond file (from a PST II for those taking notes) in the Bond but after taking the lanyard out and adding the scissors I found it to bind the tool a bit and didn't make a great experience for me :ahhh I may try to reorder the tools a bit later and see if I can get it to work more to my liking but for now just the file is staying

After getting it apart I compared the 2 files to see what I had to take off with a Dremel  you can barely see it but the diamond file is under the Bond file  :salute:

The 2 side by side

Surprisingly I only had to cut a tiny bit off at the locking notch because the bigger cut out that is close to the pivot is only there because the Rebars locking tabs are in its way  The Bond has no such thing in the way and the file fit fairly well after just a tiny bit off the locking notch  :woohoo:

After getting it in though I noticed that the fingernail pull is on the wrong side  so I added one to the other side ;)

A bit of refinement in the locking notch and perhaps a little more time on the nail pull would make this much better but I will save that for another day because it works as is and I will perhaps try the refinements if I take it back apart for scissors in the future :salute:

Very nice work Poncho! I'll have to do some comparison shots with my PST, my Kick, and the Bond when I get mine.

Received mine today.......,modified within the first 10mins🙄.
So far I’m impressed.
Nice size and weight (between a Rebar and Pulse in size).
Suits my needs as a work EDC.
Don’t need scissors, as I have a style CS on my keys and I also carry a Raptor now and then.
I also have no need for an awl.
Pocket clip fitted(from old P2).
Awl and 3D Phillips removed.
Bit driver and micro screwdriver exchanger fitted. Plus fitted locking washers/shims between every tool.

Topped it off with my old PST leather sheath(which fits perfectly with the clip fitted as well).

Does the bit holder need any modifications to fit the Bond?

Nice pics and write-up Poncho

I'm secretly hoping for a PST II update too. The files in them are just fantastic!!! Is the Bond easier on the hands when squeezing hard on the pliers?

Cheers, Pete

Thank you Poncho, that’s great to see. Good size and less splay. You just sold me on the Bond  :hatsoff:

Excellent comparison, Poncho!  :tu:  What's the weight difference between the Bond and the Rebar?

No, fits straight in. It’s the same thickness as the 3D Phillips.

Can I just take my Rebars to a distributor so they can drill and tap them for pocket clips? ::)

Just reading this - thanks for the great write-ups Olives666 and Ponch  :salute:

I think I'll order one soon. It so happens that I was preparing for some small future mods and had stocked up on pocket clips >:D

Thanks pieter, nitram, an0n and DT :hatsoff:

I also hope that they make a refreshed PST II :salute: :like: I haven't really had a chance to test it yet, so I can't comment on the comfort of the handles but seeing that it only has one of the cut outs that the Rebar does, I would say it is a bit more comfortable than that :salute:

Can I just take my Rebars to a distributor so they can drill and tap them for pocket clips? ::)

That would be great if they would do that :o who knows, if enough people email them and question them then you never know :salute: :like:

Excellent comparison, Poncho!  :tu:  What's the weight difference between the Bond and the Rebar?

I think Maxlvledc weighed them but I don't have anything to weigh the difference  I think the Bond is around 6oz maybe a little under and the Rebar is about 6.7oz.

I wonder why date codes on these but not the Rebar considering it's basically the same frame.    :dunno:

Well thanks to Poncho and Powernoodle (Multitool Enablers) pictures I think I am going to buy the Bond.  I had been debating the Rebar for a while now but the Bond seems more my speed.  I don't care for replaceable wire cutters because I feel they eat into the plier portion too much.  Just call me Bond, Leatherman Bond.   :multi:
