Great job on getting a clip on one of them   :like:

I just cannot bond with the Bond  :dunno:

I think I'll be putting mine up for sale soon in the B&S

Sorry to hear you haven't bonded with it, Steve  :-[ :salute:

I like mine, but if I didn’t live in the UK (where locking blades are illegal without a good reason), I’d really struggle to see the advantage of the Bond over the Rebar.

The price difference is fairly insignificant, same for the weight, and you gain the serrated blade, saw, and replaceable wire cutters.

I’m surprised the Bond is even on sale in the US, to be honest.

What is this thing? Looks like a PST and Rebar had a bay or something.

INHO, the BOND was introduced as a retro PST as the CURL was to the OG WAVE.

A new model to capture sales dollars for LMTools.

I do like the Bond for certain occasions, but following a recent PST challenge, I was inspired to search out a PST and scored one used very reasonable do to it having been laser engraved for a company in the Pacific NW.

The Bond should have included the pocket clip!

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Selling one you say?

Just read this whole thread.  Came up with the bright idea to get a Bond add Rebar Pliers head and replace the Blade with a Saw. Then I said to myself “Self, you would just be making a Rebar”

That does sound like a lot of work to make a slightly-worse non-locking Rebar.

The Bond has a definite purpose in places like the UK where locking blades are a grey area (illegal without a good reason to carry), but the Rebar is objectively the better tool, and great value for money.

What you say makes sense but I don’t hate that the Bond is lighter and has a great pocket clip.

The clip being the main reason I am interested at all. Well the clip and simple but good tool selection.

We have had a few members add the Free pocket clip to Rebar  The Bond is really similar but a different animal :salute: The reason you state are great examples of why they are different :tu:

Have you checked into the Curl yet  :D Curl=Lightweight Wave ;)

Yeah, I didn’t think about the pocket clip.

Adding a clip to a Rebar would maybe be easier than changing tools around on a Bond, but I don’t know for sure.

The size and weight difference is very small very the two.

Yep and it's been sold. The Rebar is a much better built tool and for not much more money.

My ONE suggestion LM should have done with the BOND, is installed the Diamond file like used on the Pulse or Wave.

It then would be a step up of a PST and then not a simple REBAR.

ALONG WITH INCLUDING THE POCKET CLIP AS PART OF THE PACKAGE  TO START.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

To bad.

Already have three Rebars. Hmm I may have a problem, but the Rebar is really good.

Yes, they drilled and tapped the holes  I broke my one tap after drilling on a practice tool and never bought another myself  :ahhh

To correct the option I purchased the Surge file/saw kit and keep the file in the sleeve inside a flat LM sheath.

A good solution and also a similar reason to why I made my Charge knives :salute: :like:

Was at Cabelas getting some ammo for my blaster when I saw they had a Bond on display.

Turns out they were all sold out except the display. Now they are completely sold out and I scored 10% off.

The Bond seems to be selling fine here at least and was the only Leatherman model that was sold out.

Here's a random thought; are people getting a Bond back as a warranty replacement for old PSTs?

I'll admit, I've not been carrying a full sized MT for a while, but felt inspired to dig out the Bond for this afternoon.  8)

Never thought about that. I have a pile of PSTs. Might be worth trying to send one in.

So initial thoughts after fiddling around with it for a while today.

Love the slip joint style of action. Holds super good and there is some play at the start so you can get the tools out easy enough.

The Knife is ok sharp but the bevel is uneven AF. I kinda hobby sharpen so it’s not an issue for me but still no the best.

At Cabela’s there in Wyoming, MI, did they have the picket clip available with accessories?

I was at my Sportsman Warehouse Saturday and was surprised they had both the Bond and Curl on the pegboard. But, no sheaths, but extenders, bits or other accessories.  They usually had sheaths.   The Bond and Curl were the same price 59. +change.   Which iirc, is a good price for a Curl.

If you’re asking me I was at the Chesterfield MI Cabelas.

All they had was extenders and bit card sets as far as accessories go.

I thought you lived on other side of Michigan near Holland, my mistake.

When I worked in Grand Rapids (downtown and airport) I visited the Cabela’s in Wyoming very frequently.

And a large one on 23 in Dundee(?)’ near Ohio line.

I’ve added the Bond to my collection (rebar, surge, blast, and original pst) and have been carrying it for a few months. So far I am very pleased. Contrary to some opinions on the non-locking blade, I have not had any problems. It actually takes more pressure to fold the blade back into the handle than my victorinox recruit.
