You have 3 Bonds?  (Poncho)

I wish they had used a diamond style file on the Bond, and could even make this new blade style a comp edge with serrations.  Call it a Bond II

May wait till July before fitting one to my secondary kit.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

That diamond file was sweet on the PST II!

It's hard to top Vic and Wenger scissors.  I even like the Gerber version.  Leatherman isn't bad, but I think they've come a long way since those days.  I'll say this for them, and that is they're rugged.

I’ve been thinking about grinding a wave diamond file to fit in a bond. A rebar serrated blade could be ground flat on half and make a safer update for the old style blade. The sheepsfoot cut on the serrated blade is less likely to pop up over the handles than the plain edge from before the update.

Now I want to mimic a pst2 with a bond lol

Just ordered a Bond, looked at it a few years ago and complaints about a loose/ protruding knife point turned me off though I do like the classic aesthetic. I hear that’s fixed now and was able to order one for $54 on discount, a little high compared to when they 1st launched but I’ll give one a try. Thanks for reading my blog post.  :D

Thank you for the quick response.  I mentioned that I had a relationship with the Bond and after reading all the posts, it brought back some old memories.  As my handle indicates, any old timers will know the early Scout Helicopters were OH6s.  When I was assigned to VN I flew an OH6.  By the luck of the draw the tail number was 16007.  Yes, my call sign was Bond and that was the name controllers  and team members associated me with.  In those days we could even paint the unit and your name on the aircraft.  I had an individual bring in a Walther PPK (32 cal) in a diplomatic pouch and I purchased a Rolex Sub Mariner in Hong Kong.  I did see a mistake in some past posts and Bond did wear a Rolex in Dr No and switched to the Omega in later episodes ( I also have an Omega Sea Master).  When the Bond was released I had one engraved with the tail number of my aircraft.  Unfortunately the blade was so loose that I cut several pockets with it and even caught my palm one time.  Before anyone says I was carelessness, I am 77 and have carried a knife since I was 11 in Boy Scouts and I have cut my self more than once, but the Bond was the first one that I do not think was self induced.  This was a long rant, but glad to be back on and will try to be a bit more diligent in following a few threads.  Above all I am going to contact Leatherman direct and attempt to receive a new model Bond and add it back to my rotation of tools.

@OH6Scout thanks for the story, and your service.

It came Thursday and the first thing I noticed was how tight all the pivots and tools are compared to my Wingman. I oiled everything and have been working over the action but it’s still very stubborn when closing. Oh, and the knife tip can still slide up so they didn’t fix that design yet, at least not on mine (not sure date of manufacture.) Hopefully it breaks in over time, I do like it overall and it’s compact size.

Please review previous post, but yours appears to be the first release style blade.  The date stamp (moyr) should be visible inside the handles.

The blade of the 2nd version was more a modified tanto ircc!

I agree. Definitely looks like the original blade shape, not the newer one.

It’s easy to tell because the little square hole in the handle below the blade is the first gen. The second gen blade doesn’t fit without removing that tab and doesn’t have it punched out in the handle. This allows you to tell which gen it is without even seeing the blade

Stand off so blade does not bottom out into handle.

Still need to pick one of these up, was just looking on heinnie Haynes. Added one to the basket then realised the clip is a further £9.95. I get it’s an extra but seems a little steep to me for what it is. They could have included it in the kit with the tool but that’s just my opinion.

You are not the first with that thought!

I was not going to pay for a clip, it should included. But, 😉 then that darn screw hole just kept screaming at me. And, I caved. The clip does (in my mind) complete the handle.

It should definitely come with the clip :salute: the original price I paid when they first came out was quite a bit less than now prices and I also ended up with a coupon code, so I picked up the clip with what I saved :salute: but you shouldn't have to worry about that though  :D

I hope it is coyote tan with black oxide pliers and tools or an all black oxide model.

I would be surprised if BO or Coyote Tan will be options.  With CT I would be a buyer, for that finish and the new main blade as justification.

Unfortunately, from reviewing colors that LM has selected for their tools most recently, I am suspecting that PASTEL COLORS AND ONLY THE HANDLES are colored, with the implements remaining SS.

Slate Grey and Navy Blue maybe only strong colors.  Plus the optional pocket clip will be in bright SS.    they do make in Black, don’t they?

LM proof me wrong!
