That's a bummer. I wonder if the coating used somehow compromised the integrity of the steel?

My replacement Bond Sienna arrived yesterday, a day earlier than promised.

Just as I reported in the above message and picture.

It did get a warm water bath as well and was removed and rinsed clean of the Dawn and left to dry until I would have a chance to lubricate the pivots.

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

Well, I was impressed how. Grit free the file side implements were, and then checked the knife side by  exposing the Phillips driver, it too was not gritty, and as soon as it was open, this occurred😩

The second Bond with the same break, in the same point!!!

No pressure, no torque, not multiple implements, not the blade deployed, plunk and thud on the table.

I am beyond disappointed.  The handle is stamped 0224.  The other handle is 2   24, (no 0, just spaces), the stop appears normal, but did not try bending.

To me the broken handle does not appear to be stainless steel that has been folded or stamped shaped, instead it appears to be cast and has no, tensel strength.   It reminds me of the Scottish steel that was used by my first employer on the frames of computer mountings for pivots and hinges that constantly broke on equipment I serviced.

I am now through with obtaining a COLOR BOND😄
I may just opt for a SS 2nd gen version.  But, will think about it, since these newer units do not have the stamped tab to hold the blade up in the handle. These handles I do believe can be stamped. To rigid. !!!

Please check your newer BONDs!
Hate to have anyone hurt using the tool, and have any pressure applied to a screw driver or blade, even can/bottle opener and have the implement extend backwards further.

Dang!  :o Just catching up with this thread LC.  Did you get another coloured replacement?
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

My Bond is probably my natural "go-to" MT for pocket carry these days.  Much as I love my Classic PST/Sideclip/Pulse etc, the Bond would be easier to replace if I were to misplace it.

Someday will visit rocks that dominate the landscape to take in the grand measure that is there to be in awe off.

No, I did not attempt a third order.  My newest sports the new blade style, which just arrived.

I have been surprised during this challenge that the new colored BONDS have not made an appearance.

Thank you asking.

Page 7,  actually thought I posting there when I posted this. Then did a copy/paste.

The Challenge thread moves quickly, maybe 3 pages a day!

Thank you for looking out for this oldster😉

Same question I asked on the challenge board : since the Bond came out with the Curl family, are we to understand the word Bond in relation to a maritime vocabulary ? Could the real English speakers shed some light on what you hear with that word ?

The only thing that comes to my mind is Bondi blue (of iMac G3 fame for guys my age). The original Bondi Australian township name seems to be derived from the Aboriginal word boondi meaning water breaking over rocks. That would correspond to Curl and Wave, but I'm just guessing here. Anybody has the real story behind the name ?

I honestly don't.  I've heard a bunch of theories but nothing firm.

I wondered the same thing!

In English “bond” can mean to join, be part of,!

My thought, along that thought was the BOND Multitool and its owner would bond, and a tool would be  an extension of the users hands, being essential in daily life.

I thought the same when the lower cost MTs were introduced a few years earlier, the SIDEKICK and WINGMAN.  A trusted companion!

But, who knows for certain.

But, the WAVE, SURGE, and CURL do follow the water theme.  But, CHARGE does not which as a MT is a fancier model of the Wave.
Oh my!  Rambling again, better take my meds…🥺
