I find the leatherman MUT an inspiration as a tool, strong and adaptable, yet at the same time limited.

It is my go to bushcraft multi tool, but it is lacking and as I live in the UK I will never use it as originally intended....so there will be a series of mods and additions that I will make over the next few months....first is a spoon, it fits behind the molle straps on the sheath, the spoon fits in all large bit drivers.

Next will be a removable firesteel

Right I have been thinking about the bit driver mods, next up is a small bike ratchet to be cut down and shaped, a bronze tooth pick from an old 4L Swan Morton scalpel, and the scalpel itself.

When I get a chance to do these is unknown, but at least they are marked out

About the ratchet, before you put a saw to it, have you considered ordering one made specifically for this? Look for "711L ratchet" in your favourite search engine - you'll possibly find it's available in your favourite online shop for instance. I believe a new variant with a swivel head has been rumoured.

I have looked at the 711 ratchet, available on Amazon only, and very expensive. I have the existing one, it's Bosch brand and very good, so would rather adapt it..... already started.
