Found this on BLF,

According to the discussion there IKEA is discontinuing their rebranded Japanese Eneloop line, replacing it with something else.

So, no more cheap Japanese Eneloops.

I have been wanting to move to 18650s for lights and RC, so I bought some. Total came to $45 for 4 4-packs and the charger. Not bad.

I'm currently testing the AA out in my i5T EOS from Olight. I know Olight recommended Eneloops in my i3EOS, as they gave more runtime (and less batteries bought).

I've also ordered the AAA. Didn't notice them the last time, so I bought three of those as well. Also a battery-powered locomotive for my old wooden train set. I usually use that at Christmas in lieu of a more expensive Lionel (which my Dad had) or my own Marklin.

It seems IKEA brought the Ladda back!
Still says 2450mAh, low self discharge, 500 charge cycles just like the eneloop pros made in Japan.

Additionally they have a new option, 1900mAh, low self discharge, 1000 charge cycles.
 :o
Are these... are these our beloved regular eneloops?   :ahhh
The only difference is saying 1000 charge cycles instead of 2000, which could be for marketing reasons? (can't undercut Panasonic entirely? :P )

The only question is are these made in Japan, cos there's only one factory in Japan that makes low self discharge AA/AAAs. Eneloops come from there.

Edit: looks like budgetlightforum says yes!

Never undrestood the hype on Eneloops, over here they're pricey and uncommon, I just use Duracell NiMH. I even have an older pair that's 2400mah, though most are 2100 I think

Envelopes drain less charge after you take them off the charger, and they're very robust, and handle high currents well.

Duracell were rebranded Eneloops at some point.  This search text may help: duraloop batteries

This is interesting to know! Might stock up. There was a time when I was a pro wedding photographer that I would be carrying some 36 eneloops to each gig, I had two 8 cell pro Maha chargers to try and keep up with them. These days it's all li-ion which to be honest makes a lot more sense but I'm out of that gig now.

What I am interested in now are cells with built in usb charging.

I still have flashlights and other stuff running on eneloops and duraloops I bought 10 years ago and they still hold a charge after who knows how many hundred cycles
