And ironically, just like these, they had one before, the Fixxit. Didn't go over well. But, they sold them under the Zippo label for close to 20 years. They were huge, so they accepted a business card's worth of info. My Granddad has one he got from a business he often dealt with back during the final years of his coal career. That thing is the size of a pager and about the weight of a Leatherman Rebar. My SAK Tinker has more tools, and is MUCH easier carried and used (those stupid thumb screws are what I've never understood).

Case had two modern one-hand openers before too, one whose name escapes me and the Orange County Choppers Chopperlock.

A little too big, and a little too stylized. But, priced right, and I like the tanto blade.

I am hoping CPM-S45VN sees use in traditional patterns. And NOT Kickstarts!

The flipper is part of the blade, so if the knife was so gummed up that pushing on the flipper didn’t open it neither would a thumb stud.

They will certainly take some getting used to.  I don't know if I can get used to them.  This Case Executive I EDCd for a couple of years starting when I was 14 years old (I'm 54 now) is about as modern as I think I can go with Case, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

I suppose that is true if the flipper can push the blade to lock completely without momentum.  However, if you look at the still photo from the video above, the blade is only partially open and the flipper isn't accessible, so it's a no-go on the gummed-up OHO, because it would stop at that point without momentum.  A thumb stud does not require the blade to have "flick" momentum to open one-handed.

Consider the situation in the pic below, assuming a gummed-up pivot.  How do you get the blade open one-handed?  The flipper is obscured by the handle, but a thumb stud would work just fine.  I have flippers with thumb studs, and I've been in this situation where only the stud will open the blade completely.  I see this as a lack of consideration on the design engineer's part that the blade might be used (one-handed) in rough conditions.
