SAK - switching OEM scales

I was wondering, if I ignore the tools added to the scales itself, can I just swap scales between same sized tools?

For instance, I have a pretty worn out Victorinox Manager... If I don't care about the pen, can I just buy new scales and turn it into a Rambler? Or are the different mounting pins?

The scales are interchangeable within the same size (58, 74, 84, 91).

To not damage the scales that you are removing, the best one to remove them is by soaking the SAK in hot water for a few minutes, before attempting to remove..

I seen to swap scales, all the time.  Even taken to buying inexpensive classics just to get other scales for my MiniChamps.
Keep in mind what Sos24 said about warming up the scales first or you'll wind up with damage to the mounting holes.

Where are you from? Maestralprom or Maestralcentar in Zagreb near Kvatrić sells original scales for 20kn per set or 10kn for a single scale. No need for harvesting used scales at those prices.

I am in Zagreb, the idea was to buy new... But they don't have The scale with a pen... And I don't want it, I want a Rambler really.
