I've got a quick question for those that regularly carry an Executive, or a similar sized Vic.
Just drop it into your pocket?
Suspension clip?
Key ring?
Remove the key ring?
Or another method?

I've gotten into the habit of making a pocket slip, for my Celidor scaled MiniChamps so I made one for my Executive too, but I still wonder how everyone else carries.

Coin/watch/5th pocket  :tu:

I just drop it in my pocket. It's small enough that it can ride horizontally beneath my wallet and it doesn't bother me. I have an Ambassador that I removed the keyring on, and an Executive that has a small paracord lanyard, and I don't really notice the difference between the two.

:iagree:   Both are small enough to 'disappear' in the pocket.

Because we think about SAKs all the time, I started wondering what 91mm I would pair with my Exec so that I would have all the tools I want, but not two pairs of scissors.  That made me start thinking about an Explorer with a wood saw in place of scissors.
I have one of those. Or two actually, one 91mm and one 93 alox and it would pair nice!

Yep  :salute:

If you got the red one, that I'm thinking about, it's probably from the same seller that I've bought from.   The O'BRIEN needed a good cleaning though.

In my search for the perfect keychain knife I stumbled on the executive by chance and now have two.

I have been carrying one or the other for over a year now and could never be happier with my choice.

I would love to be in on this challenge. I have always had great respect for  General Yeager.

I'm in!

Just picked one up this morning for a steal. Found a local boating supply store that sells Saks and had two executive in red for $35 listed online. Went in this morning. They only had one left it was their display model that was in a locked case (so no customer played with it) and it was BLACK. Which I prefer. At check out the guy said it was on clearance for $19 bucks. DOUBLE SCORE.

so I'm in!

Nothing new in the Yeager thread?  I would have sworn that there would have been some more talk going on based on the number of Executives being sold off of eBay in the past month.

Oh well, December is fast approaching.

This could go in the bargain and auctions forum but I figured it would be of most interest here. DLT Trading has Executives for $27.99 which is only a few dollars more than I paid for the one I got off of ebay where the scale came off in the envelope.  If I'd seen the price at DLT Trading I'd have had the new one.

Never mind. It's out of stock.

Well, I'm not giving away any info, but I just received a special bead that I found that I think will be perfect, for my executive.  See y'all in December.
Oh, and I've already got some bourbon for the pic on the 7th.

Picked up a new Executive from my local agent (stock moves more slowly my neck of the woods), and also some new scales for my 1980 Companion, as the original scales were not staying on.

A few differences to note on the older Companion, other than the obvious missing keyring. The pivots are smaller, the large blade's tang is a tad deeper with VSSR vs. VSS, the small blade has a bit more of a belly, the notch on the orange peeler is sharpened both sides (vs. chisel), the file has two cut directions, scissors are older style with single spring and screwed pivot, all the nail nicks are a little smaller and all the springs are a little stronger.

But overall, quite impressive how Victorinox has kept the identity almost identical over 40 years of manufacture.  :tu:

I'm now ready for December - both of these will certainly feature during the challenge!  :salute:

Bonus points for using the Exec to clean a Golden trout and photograph it.

I'm really curious if anyone will be able to do this.  I grew up in an small town at the foot of the Sierras, and I have done a crapload of trout fishing in my life.  Every place that I have ever caught a golden trout is either inaccessible or closed during December.  I read that golden trout have been introduced to other areas, so maybe someone will still get one.  Someone make it happen!  :tu:

Oh, and I've already got some bourbon for the pic on the 7th.

As a bourbon lover, I am looking forward to this reveal :)
