My usual carry and the GAK that will replace it during the challenge.

I´ll gain a corkscrew and a bottle opener that seems a bit awkward.
I´ll lose the inline awl and get the backside awl in return.
The two SAKs are similar enough, so I don´t expect any problems.
I´m curious to find out how the saw works out.

I got the GAK from another MTO member. I never really used it.
I’m coming around to thinking the GAK too Ron :dunno: got another one last week and had forgotten what a good bit of kit it is…still got a few months to decide

One for each day of the week? Not a problem but a virtue.

:like: that’d work

Knowing we have to stick to one for 90 days is the hard part, now that’s a challenge

Well, if I had to pick I think the GAK would win but that is maybe because I am thinking I need one in my life.

Was discussing GAK’s in the What’s your latest SAK forum yesterday, they’re an excellent bit of kit and can be usually had for a very good price so I’d recommend adding one to your collection for sure.

This challenge is a particularly good one, 90 days definitely means you need to choose well even though any of the Soldiers would be an excellent choice.

Up to now I’d been thinking either mod 61 or 2008, I know I’d be happy with either. Carried the 61/Pioneer plenty and really like 111mm SAK’s in general, last year’s 111 challenge was one of the best.

But getting another GAK recently made me realise I’ve never really carried one and that it’s lighter and slimmer than the 2008, but with almost same sized blade and saw, plus it’s not much heavier than a 61 (approx 86gm Vs 70gm). The scales are more grippy and the drivers work well even though they look a bit awkward…anyway plenty of time to decide

Take the 108mm GAK if you haven't really tested it yet  :pok:
I'm not a fan of the opener/screw driver implementation on them.

We’ll see McS, definitely tempted, if it was 30 days no worries but 90 :ahhh :dunno:

I’ve given the driver a bit of a test and worked better than I was expecting but a bit awkward nonetheless

Add me,

If I do get hold of an 83 Soldier, if I do I will go san-keyring, otherwise I will buy a Pioneer.

Would love the 83 DAK with bail but I don't have that sort of money  :D

Just speculating, shouldn't the Outrider be allowed model given it's use by Malaysian forces??

Would the RAF 111 Hunter knife qualify?
