Day 2 of  :dunno:

I chose the Stanley FatMax today and used the combo blade to cut a nylon rope. It did okay, but I did need to make a second pass due to the shortness of the blade:

(Image removed from quote.)

You can find more pictures of the Stanley FatMax and its sibling, the Dewalt MT16, in this thread from Chako:

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,54262.msg940605.html#msg940605

Nice multitool!
I find that the serrations make up for the shorter blades many times - if you put the rope at the base of the blade and give it some "oomph" it gets doesn't get past the serrations without a getting cut almost all the way through.

Day 1
The 940 helped open some ground beef for dinner
(Image removed from quote.)
It also helped break down some boxes but no picture.

That 940 looks like a beast, it's one of the most popular folding knives.  Thanks for bringing it into the Challenge Sos24

Day 2

Nicked the peel of another orange this morning. (just a glamor shot of the knife)  Serrations notwithstanding, I have to say, I like the ease of opening this knife without a nail nick to do simple jobs.

Thanks!
That is definitely the method to use. If the serrated edge was a bit longer the rope would have been severed in one cut.

This is the first time I have given a real look at the Octane. I like the way it looks.

It's a nice little tool but definitely lightweight, compared to others, albeit well made  :tu:

I bought it after the enablers* (was that a Disney film  :dunno:) offered their advice and guidance  :pok:

I like the way it feels and works but, given that it's rare (in the UK) anyway I'm loath to use it heavily  :ahhh

NB: Looks like it's not too common outside the UK either:

*It was the "Chief Enabler" that clinched it; thanks Grant

Excellent blades and pictures guys! Due to my current work situation I have to retract my name from the list of heroes doing this challenge. I'm glad you have enough people to get the badge still, and I can't wait to follow your progress! :tu:

Im beginning to think that a combo edge knife counts as a multitool.

But it’s been said that if theres a bottle opener on the tool, thats all that’s needed for it to count …  so next week when I use the Skeletool KBx… that would definitely count… right?  :pok:

My Myerchin rigging knife definitely counts as a multitool since it has a marlin spike.  If you've never used a spike it's amazing how useful one can be, and being titanium (with stainless) this knife still weighs less than most knives its size.  I may try the Skeletool next though.  Pliers!

The Myerchin 377P opened some sausages.  I consider this a crucial test for any knife.

Day 3 of  :dunno:

Breaking down boxes this morning and I chose to use an Estwing knife that I purchased at Lowe's. Estwing is better known for their hammers and axes. I impusively bought this knife because it reminded me of my Dad's hammer.

Powernoodle Day 3

Removing painter's tape from a table - a delicate operation indeed, which the Spyderco Delica handled with aplomb.

Nice knife.  Delica seems to be one another one of the most popular knives around

I've got two friends that use knives like this - purchased at hardware stores, with combo edges.  They can really stand up to just about anything.  It's actually one of the things that got me onto this Combo Edge kick.  One has been using this sort of knife for 20 or 30 years, and puts them through the wringer. He only swaps them out for new ones after he has sharpened the plain edge to a spike.  The other friend is a fan of martial arts and tacticool knives but always has something like this in his pocket for real work.

Great shots awl  :2tu:

I see there have been some "practical" uses today  :pok: Therefore, I have upped my game

Mrs Surge decided that the intercom was badly placed (by removing it with her shoulder  ::))

I was later directed informed that she would like a slice (or two) of lemon in her designer water  :salute:
