I know this guy (and no, it’s not one of those [it’s me] stories), who packrats just about everything. He was showing off another acquisition last night to a third party, closed his trunk, and walked toward me. I in jest made a remark concerning his propensities and he started talking about a new knife purchase. He described its unique origin and stated he just had to buy it. I responded by telling him to keep his eye peeled for any unique SAKs. He said, “SAKs?! You LIKE those?” I looked at him with disdain (for which I now repent) and he said, “I have a bag of those. You’ll have them tomorrow.” And now I do.
The haul: two Campers, a Sportsman II, a Huntsman, a Supertinker, twelve Classics (including two transparents, two LE’s, a Signature), a suede Classic pouch, and last, he threw in a Spyderco Bug.
Maybe nothing extraordinary, but I love the outlay vs return, 0 / 17 SAK’s and a Spyderco.
I will mention, one of the Campers is of 1973-2005 vintage according to the Officier Suisse stamp, with the (albeit quire worn) tent and camping hot stamp. I’m likin’ that...
Moral of the story tell everyone you like SAK’s, because obviously some don’t, and will gladly part with them.
