The only thing worse than metallic slivers is shards of glass.  Got me an arm full when I had a roll over wreck about 20 years ago. The tiny glass shards were still popping out of my skin several years after the wreck :ahhh.

I’ve had glass take weeks to come out of my fingers. But that was only twice and and just small pieces each time. I’d only prefer glass because I know it isn’t gonna poison me in some way. Bad part about glass is it’s hard to find with or without flowing blood.

EDIT:
couldn’t fit another pic in the previous post

Day 2

Used my Champion Plus to open a package. Sadly, no new SAK inside.   :(

At least I think this is an early Champion Plus. It has the backside tools of the Plus version and SAKWiki says that the first versions contained the original magnifying glass, did not have the "Plus" scales (no pen or straight-pin), and had the crossbow and cross on the tang, which matches mine. The article has no reference to a sapphire scale version so I'm guessing the previous owner replaced the original red Cellidor scales at some point with non-Plus sapphires with a pin slot. Too bad he didn't put sapphire Plus scales on it to get the pen; I might do that.

2- Corkscrew                                    14- Can opener

LOL,,,, uh,,, no.

I'd be in trouble already as I didn't copy the tool list in the same numerical order that Victorinox did,,,,, OCD is out the window.

I thought about it, but it's already day 3, and if you really want to be OCD it should have been tool #1 on day #1, and...forget about it.      Life is too short for that much organization.

Champion Challenge Day 3

Today I decided to see how the reamer would perform at peeling off wire markers. The markers are sleeves that you stick a wire in, and they are attached to a roll via adhesive. I usually use a fine tip terminating screwdriver to remove them from the roll. The reamer worked, but it was not optimal for the task. I was just trying to be creative.

Champion C
1- Large blade                                  13- Small blade
2- Corkscrew                                    14- Can opener
3- Small screwdriver                        15- Cap lifter
4- Screwdriver                                  16- Wire stripper
5- Reamer check                              17- Scissors
6- Phillips screwdriver                      18- Magnifying glass
7- Wood saw                                    19- Fish scaler check
8- Hook disgorger                             20- Ruler
9- Nail file                                          21- Metal file check
10- Nail cleaner                                22- Metal saw
11- Fine screwdriver                         23- Keyring
12- Tweezers check                         24- Toothpick

Day 03:
I used the main blade to split a baguette for my sandwich today, but I didn’t get a picture.

I tried my hand at stropping the Champ on my homemade strop with some green compound; not sure if I made the edge any sharper, but it’s definitely more shiny.

I've done that with the multi-purpose hook...now I'll have to try it with the can opener.

I'm still Soldiering On, but I'll be observing this challenge as well. It's been a good one thus far!

Ah, no hook on the '83.

I've used the pliers on a Swiss Champ for this, also. I think they might be the safest option.   :)

DAY 4  I dropped something between my truck seat and the console and thought, "Time for SAK pliers to save the day!"  But the Champ is pliers-less.  I tried later with my Handyman, but in the end it took my long Irwin needle nose to reach down into the crevasse.  The Champ did ride along all morning while doing invasive plant removal.

kamakiri - Day 4

Changed to the ‘67 Hoffritz Champion ‘b’ today. This one sports a ‘TAM’ saw…angled teeth and a machined finish typical of this timeframe, as well as the bail/shackle which weren’t discontinued for some main line knives until about 1970. This gives lots of time between ‘68-‘70 for the last bail equipped champions which have the first ‘TSM’ (symmetrical/machined) saws.

Only mail haul duty so far today :mail:

Just one knife a Hunter XT and more Knipex pliers… that wouldn’t have likely helped Fireman above.  ;)

Day of Challenge / Knife used:
1. Original Black 1984
2. Champion Plus c. ‘05
3. 1974 Red w/o Nickel Silver Shield
4. 1967 Hoffritz Champion B
