I ordered my when they first became available for 79.95 plus shipping. The price has since gone up to 89.95 US dollars so not too terrible of a markup. I have carried it with the clip in my front jeans pocket as well as in an older style nylon sheath on my belt with the clip removed. That is how I am carrying right now as I post this reply. Hope that it serves you well and you enjoy it as much as I have. For me it is as close to the perfect tool out of the box that I have owned from Leatherman.

G'Day,

I'm part of this group too. My Curl arrived this morning which gave me a bit of time to explore the tool. I was a little disappointed at first, taking it out the box. The blade was really hard to deploy and the pliers is tight. The inner tools have a good tension, but the are really hard to deploy in comparison with a Charge. This must be due to the retaining mechanism in the back. The blade was not that sharp either with a lot of visible grind marks.

So out came the wrenches and oil. The blade is now better, but still not as easy to deploy as my Charge. It has been sharpened and destroyed the chorizo for dinner. The scissors worked well on some new socks I had to open and cut the little plastic things that hold them together. I removed the clip, but don't like the holes so back on it went. I'm a lefty so I'll see in the next few days how I'll go with the clip.

I want to see in which leather pouch it will fit, I'm not a fan of the nylon.

Cheers, Pete

This weekend I may try and take the blade side pivot apart and see if I can remedy the problem. My blade out of the box was so tight it was a two handed blade. Lots of oil and cycling has helped but it's still not like my waves/charges.

So I'm not alone...

Let us know if you find anything interesting. As far as I can see, the same bronze washer sits next to the blade. Maybe the pivot bolt is making the difference?

Maybe, I'll disassemble and check it out. Maybe it's just overly tightened

Problem solved, loosen the pivot some.  https://youtube.com/shorts/VisgTh8HVbo?feature=share

Blade has some very slight play back and forth but not enough to matter.

David already answered but I always tension any brand new tool I get right out of the box :salute:

The majority of the time they are overtightened on purpose to wear in over time but I don't like that  and always loosen them a bit :D

Very rare but I have had maybe 1 or 2 at the most that were looser than they should have been :ahhh in those cases I tighten them to my liking :tu:

Anyone know of a good set of bits that fit LM tools? The security torx bits I have I guess are not the best. Did the job but probably need better quality ones.

I finally broke down and bought a couple sets of Klein electronic bit sets from Home Depot :salute: kinda pricey though :ahhh but they work well and I haven't had any problems with the bits breaking

They fit in the rectangular bit holder?

I have to say that I like the Curl but I am not really impressed by the bit holder itself and the proprietary Leatherman bits seem to be pretty soft...

They actually came with a small bit holder driver in each kit

I have really never had problems with the LM bit driver or the flat bits myself and I have been using them for years :salute:

I’ll have to keep an eye out for this set and whatever holder comes with it. I do a lot of stuff with electronics so I could probably get some use out of a bit set like that.

I would be less concerned about the durability of the Leatherman bits if they were more available!

I do get that about the LM bits :ahhh wished I could pick them up at regular stores instead or having to order them

I got the Klein sets at Home Depot  :salute:

This pic will give you an idea what to look for and expect :salute:

I’ve seen that set before! But I had no idea it could work with the Leatherman bit driver somehow…

It doesn't work with the LM bit driver. I was answering David Bowen in this post

Oh yeah, I was confused! No worries though.

I’m always running into odd screw heads though, so I still might pick one of those sets up some time. I have something similar but with less variety in the set.

So after a year and a half delay on finishing my Curl mod, I finally found the time to finish.  I wanted to put a utility blade holder in place of the file since I break down so many boxes.  I had all of the parts and equipment lined up - I just needed a lot of time for patient grinding... and after hours of careful grinding, my plan failed.   I couldn't get the utility blade to seat low enough or secure enough where I felt it would be safe to carry.  After much internal debate, I decided there is no way I can make a utility blade mod safe, so I threw in the towel.  I did, however, replace the Curl pliers with Rebar pliers for the sweet replaceable wire cutters.  :tu:

So here it is in its final (?) form.  It's a Curl +

154CM Blade
small bit driver (removed scissors)
replaceable wire cutters (Rebar pliers)
