Case repair service?
on: July 20, 2021, 03:41:52 AM
Curious if anyone has had experience with the  Case repair service?

I picked up a 1991 Trapper this weekend that needs a little more help then I can give it. I also have a Mako with a broken blade. Has anyone returned one to Case for a non-warranty repair? Was the pricing reasonable? Was the service acceptable?

Thanks, Jason

Follow up,,

Today marks two weeks since I filled out the online repair request form. I got an automated response that day saying it could take several days,,, nothing since. Not bashing,, just sharing.

I had a #75, large stockman, that had a broken back spring.
Doesn't really apply to your situation because it was warranty service, but it was done fairly quickly.  I'm kinda surprised they've taken so long to respond...

Me too,,

I know the pandemic is still affecting things, so I try to be fair and objective. Now I'm starting to think I should just tear it apart and have a go at it myself.

So here's a prime example where patience paid off and why we should never rush in to bash.

I just received an email from Case stating that what I requested as a non-warranty repair to a 31 year old knife ( and was willing to pay for )  was actually deemed by their repair dept. to be under warranty and will be repaired at no charge.

:woohoo: Feeling pretty good about the brand at this point!!

This morning I got an email from them stating they had received my knife. They advised a 4 to 5 week turnaround, or more. And now we wait,,,

Well I got my knife back from Case today.

Just a recap. I purchased the knife with damage. The covers were busted in multiple places and there was a dead back spring on the main blade. I reviewed the Case website and it said that they repair non-warranty knives "for a small fee". Being that the knife is 30 years old and I am not the original owner, I filled out the form and selected "non-warranty" in hopes of getting a favorable quote for repair. They replied and stated that the back spring was under warranty and there would be no charge.

Today I opened the return package and this is what I found. As I requested, they were able to keep the blades that were date stamped 1991. The main blade has full snap and the new jigged bone covers look beautiful. They polished up everything and man does it shine! The only thing they didn't do was sharpen it, but who's gonna complain?

I couldn't be happier with their service!!!

That looks nice,congrats Jason.

It appears to be an 07 rather than a 54 trapper but I can't see the model number.

Here is one I picked up during my travels.I believe mine is a 2009 production and it is a 54 trapper.
