I don't see it on smartknives.com, which is where I look when I'm trying to identify something.

There are identifiable changes pretty much every year. Some years, more frequently than that. Assuming I’m understanding your question correctly.

I am asking, what year did they add the pliers and take off the fish scaler?

Ah!

Around ‘86, maybe ‘87. I’ve only found ones that look ‘87 and later.  Unlike Champs, where I have lots of ‘86s.

Either of these are ‘easy’ to ID with the 2.5mm pliers which appear ‘flush’ when closed.

Yes Thank you. I know what the newer ones look like. I just wanted to know about when they added the pliers to this particular model.  I appreciate it.

SAKWiki is pretty clear on the model and when the pliers came in:

https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Handyman

Do you use it? It should be your first port of call when looking for an unknown model
..... Although probably more interesting for us all if you start a new thread here!!    ;)

It’s pretty clear, but I think ‘86 is probably wrong. There’s clear proof in production that pliers went into Champs before the end of ‘86. Enough are around to  prove it. I have not found that to be the case for either Craftsman or Handyman models.

Nice!  That’s a really cool example. Especially that printed diagram.

Do I use it? Of course, I started it with Grant, who is one of my best friends.

Just sorting through my collection of SAKS.  I thought I would start some discussions by showing some of the cool stuff in my collection.  Also wanted to make sure I have my facts straight.  When Grant and I started this forum, it was really hopping, and I am just trying to bring some of that fun back.  I have all of my bloomer drawers filled with my SAK, Umm I mean SAKS.

I agree, that's why I post here to try to get as many opinions as possible.  I hope we get as many replies as possible. Get some juices flowing.  :woohoo:

No I discontinued that model. I switched to a model that leaves more room for my Saks.
