Daddy duties - Toothpick to the rescue

As Kids grow, parents face new challenges.

My daughter (turned 4 in july) already has a climbing harness, a pocket knife, a backpack, headlamp and so on. All the good and necceary stuff of life.  :tu:

But yesterday I had to face something new. Girly things. Painted fingernails.  :woohoo: :facepalm:
My wife bought special paint for kids (no chemicals, can be removed with warm water,...). But I had to be the one to paint it.
And since my last delicate paintjobs are some years back (hell, school is long gone, isnt it?) daddy made sort of a mess in the progress of doing so.

So there was paint underneath the nail and on places it shouldnt be. No problem, a toothpick is a great sensible scraper to clean things up.

Lessons learned, paint thin, take your time and hold that hand to not move.

And maybe this is worth the TP badge, who knows.  :pok:

Mine is also four, and my SAKs have never seen so much use since she was born. Dad duties are often completely unpredictable, and you find yourself using what’s in your pockets in unexpected and creative ways.
We need a thread for favorite Dad SAK tools  :climber:

Yeah, beeing a daddy is a whole new quest in life.
Even when going minimal, I always have a set of tools around.
A Swisscard Nailcare and a LM P4 are a great addition to a traditional folder and add a lot of opportunities.
Other than that, I often carry a Outrider and a PST. Ot the smaller versions Huntsman + P4.

If I had to go on a long trip with the family, and could only take one single knife or tool, I would go for the Workchamp. Hard to beat in utility, but builky.

 When my kids were young I carried the swisschamp. It saw daily use for kid stuff. I'm not sure how I'd have made it through it all without it. Recently gave one to my son in law when I found out they were expecting their first. He is already putting it to good use.

Good thread.  When my kids were growing up it was the tweezers and stick pin that came in the most handy.  Seems like they were always getting splinters.  As adults they will still come to me asking for my tweezers and stick pin from time to time…only now they get the splinter themselves…they even still ask for help on occasion :-)

As the father of a 16 year old girl I must say,,, AWESOME and CONGRATS!!!!

My daughter was checking out my Wenger Swiss Sportsman this morning. She reacted positively when I told her that because it has a locking main blade, I was thinking about gifting it to her after the Delemont 30 Day Challenge.

Swiss army knives are great gifts, I get messages from my kids, nieces and nephews all the time, telling me how they've used the once I gave them for different tasks.

Theres not a lot us dads cant handle for our kids.  Having a SAK sure does assist us in a variety of those moments.
