Recently I decided to try to rethink my Leatherman Wave as a Signal Alternative. I am calling it the Leatherman SAVE as it the mods will be survival based. First I took the kebar titanium keychain fork and used a screw extractor to widen the hole enough to fit over the Waves screw. I removed enough metal to make the fork mostly lock out into place. I used the wrong side of the fork when removing metal so it is not a perfect fit, but it works pretty well. The Leatherman flair obviously had a fork but is now hard to get at any reasonable price. The Keybar fork is 2.63 inches long and has a narrow thickness allowing it to fit nicely in the waves outside tool slot.
