carrying 1/4" drive bits

I use the Victorinox bit holder that come with the ratchet. I really like its slim profile and that it holds the ratchet. 10 bits (+1 in the ratchet) handles most of what I need.
I have considered trying to 3D print an even slimmer version with one side open (so only held by 5 out of six sides). Should allow for an easier way to pull bits out with a nail and look professional with bits that have the size written on them.

Another option: get some shrinking tube, maybe 2cm wide.

Insert the tube in itself, to get a double "wall".

Cut along the side, insert bits at the interval you want.

Use heat to mold the shrink tube. Trim any excess. You can leave a tab at the end to pull it out of the pocket or inser a key ring.

I have carried them inside a pen with the ink cartridge removed.

That's a Sheaffer school pen called the No Nonsense.  It's been around for decades. I had them since college in the 80s. Originally it was a fountain pen and later a ballpoint.  What a great idea to repurpose it for EDC bit storage!

In the 1/4" model, 8 bits and a bit holder fit, in each column there are two bits. In the leatherman model, 6 bits fit, twelve different sizes. This is also magnetic. Models available at https://www.thingiverse. com/

Hi.

I suppose this can be done to carry also those 1/4 bits. I made this pouch/sleeve/envelope to carry the flat leatherman bits mainly in the jeans fifth pocket as I don't want to carry anything extra in my pockets that makes my pockets bulge. Could a minimalist fabric envelope like this work for 1/4 bits also? This took maybe 2 hours to sew by hand as I wanted each bit to have a separate pocket

I don’t carry these around me but they work for all sorts of tiny stuff. You can even leave a tube in one slot though I suggest throwing it away after use otherwise glue will leak out.
