A multi-tool for my paracord kit?

Recently I discovered that a good pair of pliers can be a real asset when working with paracord. Though a Victorinox Classic SD has served faithfully in that role, I'd like to dedicate a tool with pliers to the paracord tools box someday. My SwissChamp and Leatherman Rebar, though great tools, are a little bulky for that purpose. I'd be looking for a fairly compact tool with:

• pliers
• blade
• scissors that can effectively cut paracord

Other tools, unless useful for working with paracord, are of little consequence in this role.

Being a long-time SAK fan, the Deluxe Tinker came readily to mind. But I'm very open to other options. What would y'all suggest?

You need a lighter to melt the ends of your paracord don't you?  The Victorinox SwissFlame has a lighter.  You might even find one for under $400.00 if you're lucky.

I'd suggest the Deluxe Climber over the Deluxe Tinker.  The sharp tip of the corkscrew can be handy for picking tight knots.

Taking all that into consideration...

The SwissFlame likely would cost more than I'd be willing to pay, though it is an interesting tool. (Some paracord projects can be finished by weaving in the ends, but I'm not that good.) I'll look into the tools mentioned by ReamerPunch. A Leatherman Juice could certainly work. If I find a Deluxe Climber at a reasonable price, that could work, too. I have a "knotter's tool," so I'm already well-equipped for untying recalcitrant knots.

As for my timing? I'm notorious for coming up with a great idea just a little too late. Maybe someday I'll do something about that tendency.

I have a Juice Pro and a Micra in my paracord kit. I  prever the smaller round tips of the Juice pliers when working with the cord. Micra does the cutting duties just fine. The round awl in the Juice is great for untying knots too.

Really? I have a Micra, and its scissors are terrible on paracord. Should I send it in for warranty work?

After giving it some thought, the perfect paracording multi-tool doesn't exist. If it did, it would use the Victorinox Seaman (with blade and marlinspike) as its foundation. Then scissors and pliers would be added. Presence or lack of opener tools wouldn't matter. Unfortunately, Victorinox doesn't seem to have released 93mm models with pliers, I'm not sure 91mm pliers would work, and I wouldn't want to cobble up a good Seaman, anyway.

Edit: I looked (albeit briefly) into the Outo and NexTool mentioned by ReamerPunch. The former seems to now be marketed as a Schrade with a steep price tag, and the latter seems to come with extras I wouldn't need. Neither is compelling enough for me to want to make it a stand-alone purchase, but I do appreciate the suggestions.

Have you tried a Leatherman Style PS? Ok, the scissors' spring keeps breaking, but they're still usable and the thin plier's tip are great for pulling paracord.

A good marlinespike type tool is what you need.  I keep a rigging knife in my paracord kit.  In an emergency I use the nail file blade on a Victorinox classic.

No. The two-tone look bugs me a bit, but the Style PS could be worth a look...especially at only $35 US.

That's where the knotter's tool comes in. It's perfectly good for my needs. I do have a bit of a soft spot for old rigger's knives, though, as I carried one while I was in the Navy.

I have never needed to cut paracord, but this surprises me since my Micra's scissors are the best of every multitool scissors in my collection.  I'll have to find paracord somewhere and give mine a test.

If you're unable to find any paracord and neither need nor want to buy more, let me know. I'll send you a length, plus a lanyard/key fob or three. I'll test out my Micra on paracord again, too.
