I have never heard of a parkway, but I park and drive on driveways.
My guess is that it could be too heavy and/or expensive.

I think it may be the same thing that causes people to park their car right next to mine, even though I have parked miles away from everyone else and there are literally 100s of other parking spots available, nearly all of them closer to the shops. I've even gone so far as to sometimes ask (gently & politely) the driver why they chose to park right next to me - all the responses so far have been simple puzzlement, they had no idea at all why they parked next to me, let alone that I would prefer they did not. I think it might be some kind of misplaced herding instinct, but if anyone has a better explanation please chime in ....
Why do we drive on parkways but park on driveways?
I always park my car close to someone with a better-looking one, so if a car gets stolen, it won't be mine. Do you have a nice looking car ?
When I have to park close to another car, I always choose one that's newer and more expensive than mine. That way, they'll take care not to damage their doors hitting my car when opening them.

I do this too, or park further away than most people. I have to legs and have no problem using them
