We have looked at some ultra cool custom tools with the Multitool.org Logo on them this month, but this Leatherman Charge may be the coolest.

We posted number 001 of our modified Charge AL series last week, and this is number 010, the last of the limited run. As you may recall from our previous post, the factory aluminum scales were replaced with custom Titanium anodized scales which were then laser engraved with our logo.  This particular one was shown to Tim Leatherman the first time I met him, and he showed his appreciation by signing the main blade!

In case you missed it, learn all about the Charge series with the Multitool Encyclopedia, always at Multitool.org! https://wiki.multitool.org/tiki-index.php?page=Charge

A little bit of fun on a Monday- the Hot Wheels Tooligan!

There are several versions of the Tooligan but this is the only one I've gotten- with a measuring tape for a front bumper, crescent wrench for spoiler and body panels, a couple of Phillips screwdrivers on the deck and an actual, functional 1/4" bit driver on the bottom, the Tooligan always makes me smile!

Read all about the Tooligan on our Forum!

@hotwheelsofficial #hotwheels #hotwheelstooligan #tooligan #tooligans #multitooldotorg #multitool #multitoolforum #Forum #notyourusualedc #toytools #collectortools
I was in a local grocery store today, happened to glance at the Hot Wheels bin, and what did I see sitting on the top? The first Tooligan I've seen in the wild! I had to get it.

Though I don't see it replacing my Swiss Champ anytime soon.   ;)

Very cool!

And yeah, I feel like you would be better served by a SwissChamp for sure.  The Tooligan is cool, but as it has no bottle opener or corkscrew it's EDC-ability is limited!  :D

While many of these are branded with tye Jeep logo, I've never been able to determine if they were a legitimate Jeep product, or just another attempt to capitalize on an established brand.

Whatever it's origin, the SpyderGuppie (our name, because it is reminiscent of both the SpydeRench from Spyderco and the CRKT/IDWorks Guppie) is actually a remarkably handy tool, and, as you can see from the rust buildup on mine, has seen its fair share of action.

Read all about it on the forum at Multitool.org: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,42161.0.html

It's a decent design- with a little tweaking and some decent manufacturing it could be a real winner.

And it would be neat to see a decent company rip off a cheapo no name manufacturer for once, instead of the other way around!  😀

Been a while since we looked at Wenger!

Some of you will look at these photos and think "that's a sweet black scaled Wenger Traveler."  Others will have noticed the lock release for the main blade and said "that's a sweet black scaled Adventurer!"

This particular Wenger Adventurer was actually my very first Wenger model.  I had owned several Victorinox models at that point and just happened to be in my local knife shop (shout out to Sean and Rodney!) when the local Wenger rep showed up.  He recommended I start with this one, and the rest is history!

Whether you are opening a nice bottle of Côtes du Rhône or out hiking, a good pocket knife is never out of place- particularly if it has a corkscrew, like this Gerber Armbar Cork does!

First announced at the pre-pandemic 2020 SHOT Show, the Armbar Cork was one of our clear favorites from the moment we saw it, and now, after some pocket time, our opinion hasn't changed.

Read all about our initial opinions on the Armbar Cork on the only forum that matters! https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,83780.0.html

The Armbars are both like one tool short of being perfect. If the cork had a driver (maybe on the can opener and/or prybar) or the drive had a can opener, they'd be great "rough rider" SAK alternatives. As is, it just feels a little low on the tool density for the size.

I can see that.  I'm not sure I agree, as I feel like this one has pretty good tool density for what it is.  It isn't a SAK, but then, other than Vic what is?

I think I put this against the half a Skeletool (KB I think it was called?) in my mind, and it far exceeds the usefulness of that monstrosity.

I suppose it all depends on what category you out it in that makes all the difference.   :D

I think what bugs me about it is that they have all the pieces to make it perfect, and they just didn't quite arrange them. Was there really no way to fit a can opener onto the drive? Could they not have put a screwdriver/opener combo instead of just a claw on the cork? They have multiple different combo designs on some of their other tools. You're right that the density isn't bad, but it feels almost intentional that they're just one tool short of what we're used to.

Of course, people say the same thing about Victorinox not putting a specific combination of tools together. Someone out there wants a Spartan with a fish scaler but no plyers, scissors, etc.

Another forum shout out today!

One thing many traditional multitools lack is a set of Allen or hex wrenches- and that's where my love of bike tools like this Topeak Mini 9 comes in!

Featuring seven different Allen wrenches, a Phillips head and a Torx head, the Mini 9 is an extremely convenient size for adding versatility to your EDC.  And, the quality is as solid as its looks!

Did you know our Outdoor Forum was originally dedicated to bike related tools like the Mini 9?  As with many things, it evolved and eventually got a new name, but it's roots are still there!  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/board,19.0.html

Despite having a seriously limited number of functions, I personally prefer the Leatherman Freestyle over its larger brother, the Skeletool.

To me, the loss of the screwdriver and carabiner/bottle opener combo is more than made up for by the ultra compact size and pocketability.  The Freestyle virtually disappears when clipped to your pocket, and is a great companion to a Swiss Army Knife.

Read everything there is yo know about the Freestyle in the Multitool Encyclopedia, found (as always!) at Multitool.org! https://wiki.multitool.org/tiki-index.php?page=Freestyle

When it comes to naming models, we know there is a lot of variables when it comes to Victorinox- and this Master Craftsman is no exception.

It was also known as the Astronaut because NASA liked this configuration so much that it became standard issue, and Victorinox responded by adding a space shuttle to the scales.

And, as usual, everything you ever wanted to know about the Master Craftsman and Astronaut is all available at SAKWiki.com!

I still wish the Freestyle had a pair of scissors.  That or put a knife blade on the Squirt PS.  Either one would be my perfect minimal mulitool.

Another forum shout out!

If ever there was a holy grail of Gerber collecting, this fantastic First Production Run MultiPlier would probably be it.

With a high polish finish, nail nicks that don't line up with the handle cutouts, no locking tools and a plier head shape that just doesn't seem quite right, you can see this tool had a lot of refinements to come, and yet, it's the unmistakable ancestor of the current MP600- and in fact, most of Gerber's multitool line.  You can even see how close the handles come to eachother, which is the origin of its unofficial name, Mr. Pinchy!

If you have a classic MultiPlier or just want to look at some great pics from others, check out our MultiPlier Owner's Club! https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,74830.0.html

Not to mention how many variants of the MP600!

This Ranger Grip 178 is one of my all time favorite Wenger models, and it's not hard to see why!

From its ergonomics to the largest folding multitool saw, one handed opening, locking blade to the very cool unlock button disguised as a shield, the New Ranger line (now available as part of the Victorinox Delemont Series) was a huge hit for Wenger before they were absorbed into Victorinox.

And, as usual, the Swiss Army Knights have documented the Ranger Grip 178 thoroughly at SAKWiki!  https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Wenger+Ranger+56
