Day 4 - Discontinued Models

Wenger Soldat/Standard Issue (2004)

I've really grown to love the bail on the older Pioneers and SI, so I tend to prefer the SI over the Victorinox Soldier.

I also prefer the Wenger SI, both for the bail and for the blade shape (the blade's really only a cosmetic preference, mind you.)

Day 4

Yesterday I was able to put the Farmer X's saw to work. Due to some combination of thinness, age, and my heavy hand, the board split along the grain. That sorta ruined a good photo opportunity. Today I recreated the saw use with a slightly thicker board.

Interesting to see such a wide variety of SAK's all in one challenge, including some really nice OC's!

SOS - that Rancher X must be a mod?  Unless I missed something (I love it by the way, the colour is fantastic).  The pruner blade is really nice for some applications.

Day 4
I used the pliers to pull a staple out of this package. A bit of Overkill, but that’s what we do here…

The Victorinox pliers are one of the better staple pullers I've used.

I think I will need to get an SI so I can verify that for myself

Awesome work. The saws work very well, especially for their size.  :tu:

Extremely accurate. I believe Clark W Griswold used his Special Mechanic to take down Xmas from his roof. Pliers helped pull all the staples out.

It was a limited edition Victorinox Freunde 7th anniversary.  I love the alox green and have a couple.  I wasn’t sure what I would think of the pruner blade, but have found it useful.

Day 4
The Rancher X scissors cut some leukotape into a butterfly bandage and the opener helped replace an air filter, before turning the house heat on.

The awl was then used to open a beer that had such a dented top that it did not want to open

13.33%!

Another super difficult day of miscellaneous minor tasks, like opening envelopes, cutting fingernails, pulling out wood slivers (okay, that one was pretty good), and breaking into toilet paper dispensers (dropping off; not picking up).

"You call this a challenge?" chides Vicky.

Day 4! Disco!

Time to make bread!
The TG helped to open a package of flour, a packet of yeast and to cut the bread!

Day 4 - Modified SAK Challenge

Used the mag glass to read the tiny print on the dead battery in the Timekeeper Alarm I picked up today at a local antique store. Other than the dead battery, it looks brand new. With a new battery, it works great!

Shame you split the board.  The 93mm seems to work rather well.

Nice score, SteveP! Fresh bread, yum!

Day 5

The weather has taken a turn and got colder, so much so that it finally killed off the batteries in the outdoor sensor for my Oregon weather gizmo - used the micro screwdriver on my Moomin Explorer (it didn’t originally come with one, so I dyed one together with the toothpick and tweezers black to match the scales using Ritmore - another tip I learned onMTO ) to press the reset button to get the base unit to find the sensor again - success (it doesn’t always work first time!).

Aye, I was originally eyeing up a 2004 issue, but then I saw that one and had to get it!

Day 5 Old Cross

Opened some mail this morning. I decided to upgrade some more butcher knives this year and also another sharpener for the camper/travelling hunting camp.

I'd like to say I use farmer Ted to butcher all my meat, but in fact I prefer a set of good breaking and boning knives. However Ted has field dressed quite a bit of game when called upon, even quartered a few when necessary.

Day 5 - forgot my rambler at work so I will be using my rally this weekend. Today I cut open a new carpet for my youngest. I prefer the rambler not only for the scissors but also the position of the blade in the other end so the lanyard can work as an extension

Day 5 - Discontinued Models

Woodsman 91mm from The Nature Company

No real use so far today.  I keep mostly to SAKs of 3 layers max, so this one is a bit of a brick in my pocket today.  I suppose I could use a belt pouch for comfort, but I only tend to do that for plier-based MTs.  I suppose I'll do that soon as I have some larger discontinued examples that I'll be bringing out for the challenge.  I'm not likely to carry a SAK of this size, because I feel like if I'm going to strap on a pouch, I might as well carry a Champ, Swisschamp or Cybertool and really be prepared.
