Day 23 - Solider 30

Probably a little bit of overkill for opening a lateral flow test kit...

Day 23 - it has been one of those days when I'm really happy I work shifts at work. Everything that could go wrong today has but when my 12h was ending there was someone else there to look at it with fresh eyes. Sometimes you leave it in chaos and sometimes you take over someone else's chaos. But now I'm home, looking through the mail and might even get my self a whiskey

Day 23

Today I unpacked hunting gear. Used OC farmer's awl to cut some cable ties that were holding a plastic tote closed. Those lids don't stay closed in the bed of a pickup. Pasties and gravy for dinner, farmer blade used to cut into bite size chunks.

A double figure eight, with a triple overhand sliding knot. It's very climbery.
:like: I'll be seeking out a tutorial for that one, or at least those knots.

Day 23

I had occasion to break out my little-bitty ferro rod today. Naturally, I decided to see what tool on the Farmer X worked best for striking it. The can opener (at about the point it's touching the ferro rod in the picture) was most effective.

Good news: both knots are common in rock climbing and fishing, so tutorials abound.

One of the sock puppets from the other day! Old Kid cut out the eyes, the pupils, the tongue, the eyelashes, and the hair. Good job, Old Kid!

Discontinued Challenge (Disco ! )

Day 22

I bought a new classic in a nice purple color at a very good price. And cut a small candy in bits to pair with a good coffee.

Disco Challenge

Day 23

I used the combo tool to open a split ring for a new pony for my wife's purse.
(A little pony matches well with a rainbow lanyard in her Gerber Evo Jr.)

Getting a good deal is always nice. I imagine that purple is difficult to photograph.

Day 23 - Modified SAK Challenge

Lots of cutting open of boxes today - sadly, no action shots. And it wasn't that exciting. So will have to settle for a static photo.

Apologies if the site linked throws a ton of ads at you...but is this one of the knots in question?

A great static photo it is. I should get a copy of that book for my SAK bookshelf.

That's the one! It's easier to tie just the loop in the end of a rope, but to properly tie into a harness, you need to use the follow-through method.

This video shows a triple fisherman knot, which is just two triple overhand knots:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wamJZsQ0IOU

I've actually fixed my triple overhand . It looks more like the ones in that video now.

Day 24

In preparation for the holiday season I prepared some of the family's favorite drink. It requires a little can opening and the OC farmer completed the task. It's best after 24 hours in the refrigerator, but I figured it was my duty to sample the product. Quality control is important

Thanks! I'll try that out and see how it works for a mini lanyard.

Do you blend it manually or with an immersion blender? It sounds pretty darn good!

Day 24

Today might be a no-use day, so the Farmer X is posing with some coffee. I'll add bonus shots if I was wrong about no use.

I usually use a countertop blender but immersion blender would work just as well. Great in coffee  :tu:

Day 24 - Modified SAK Challenge

Have a couple of days off for the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US, so a little blade cleaning and touch-up is in order before heading back to work next week.

For those of you also here in the US, I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving with friends and family.
