kottskrapa and Sos24, thank you both for pointing me to the Modified SAK Challenge badge. I completely missed that one in the list, but it'll work!

If I do this November challenge, I'll post before the 1st.
Glad was able to help.  Hope to see you posting.

I'd be keen to give this a lash, but dont have a Soldier. If carrying the Pioneer counts towards the Soldier badge, this might be a solution ? (being as it is the template for the 1961-2008 soldier)

That would have to be a question for the mods, because I’m not sure.

I was going to suggest the Minimal SAK challenge but see you already have that badge.

If the Pioneer doesn’t count as a Soldier, you could still do a Pioneer challenge, it just wouldn’t result in a badge.

Day 1

I'll start off with a glamour shot of the Farmer X. It's seen with a unit that may be called in for backup should I need scale tools.

Great to have you jothra and ulzhan

Thank you!

I posted this in a Jack-o-lantern thread, but it's as good a Day 0 as any. So...

I have a Huntsman or two, but I'm mostly going to be using one in particular.

Scales are new, the rest...isn't.

The original scales were really badly messed up, but they had a stainless steel inlaid logo. There's a fluted corkscrew, an eyeless reamer, and grooveless scissors. Added up, I think I've got it pinned down to 1981-1983. I was born in 1982, so that's pretty cool.

I carved this Jack-o-lantern with said Huntsman, scraped out the inside with my Kershaw spork, and scooped out the guts with my hands. The only other outside items were the straight pins I used to attach the floating pupils, and the Rovyvon A7 flashlight I used to light it up for the picture (I will use tea lights for actual display)..

In order: opening the top, scooped innards in the background as the eyeball carving starts, corkscrew removes eyeball cutouts, finished carving with pupils pinned in place.

The final product, with a bad case of knife-head.

Thanks! He has seen pictures of it and will get it next weekend when I see him. Haha yes, the rambler is quite small and that knife is one of the bigger ones I have handled

Love that lantern, Jothra!

Day 1

We’re under way now! Used the scissors on my Moomin Explorer to open up then remove the label from a bag of coffee beans for this morning’s cappuccino. I keep the label in the vacuum jar to remind me what beans I’m using!

Day 1

Good morning awl! I'll be attempting the 30 day Old Cross challenge this month. Today I am carrying an old cross farmer. Around my house this knife is just known as Ted. When not in my pocket he can be found milling about on the kitchen table, nightstand or reloading bench. He's probably opened more cans of beans and cleaned more geese than any other SAK I own.
Originally available exclusively through the "spirit of the wild" catalog, circa 1994 (?).  He's worn a little, but still gets the job done.
Out doing chores this morning enjoying a little snow. Afterwards opening a new furnace filter.
