Discontinued or out of stock ? :)
on: January 25, 2022, 12:24:41 PM
On several occasions we have seen items (knives, Multitools etc,) being declared as discontinued, causing worry  , even stress  :ahhh to some members, and readers of the Forum, when an item is just out of stock (usually on amazon.com, or in shops in a couple of countries or areas).

Many times this is based on information given by a salesman/woman/.... who has very little knowledge of what is happening at the company under question, or, and this does happen, is trying to get you to buy a product by saying it will be discontinued, or it will be made with cheaper material and so on. They may also want you to buy something in their shop, an alternative of the out of stock item, rather than let you go to a different shop that has it in stock.

Even items that may be officially declared as discontinued are sometimes available to buy new for several years, the LM PST comes to mind.

It will be good before an item is declared as discontinued, to say a bit more on where the information came from, whether it is just affecting one region and so on.

Think of the poor stressed   :poh: members, having sleepless nights and trying to buy all of the available "discontinued" models on eBay  :crash:

THIS IS A NON-TOO-SERIOUS POST, talking in general and not intended to be specific to any company, person, region.

Supply chain issues.

You gotta embrace the New Normal and not let it stress you out.

"FTFY is an abbreviation for “fixed that for you.” People often use it on Reddit and Twitter to poke fun at the opinions, grammar, or work of others. It’s universally understood as sarcasm, although, like any such joke, FTFY can come off as rude or aggressive. There are some situations in which FTFY is genuinely helpful, though."

I just googled it and put the info there for all of old-timers that had no idea what it meant. :)
