Day 26 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Spartan main blade cut like a charm. The garlic and the onion had no chance

Good use. What did you cook?

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 27

Unpacked a delivery of produce and sundries. I've got the eggs; who's got the bacon?

Day 27 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Day 26 I was cutting garlic and onion to cook rice for my kids.
(And burgers with bacon, steamed veggies and some pasta)

Today the bottle opener was called to open a little pot of strawberry jam. Just a little pressure under the lid to relieve the vacuum to make it easier to open.

Cooking for them is a thing that I really love.

My boy is already a SAK user since his 6yo. Now with 10 he's starting a small colection. And help me in most of my daily chores and projects.

My girl is almost 2yo but already have a SAK for her. A pink My First Victorinox that I bought for her in the day she was born.

Day27 - Minimal SAK

No action today, but I changed the way how I carry the Waiter - usually it is in my watch pocket with the little Victorinox lanyard, today I experimented with a pocket clip and it was quite comfortable, especially when I put the clip on the inside, high part of the pocket.

Day28 - Minimal SAK

Another quiet day regarding SAK action. I got inspired by Hevy's car picture from the other day and took a similar one with the Waiter.

Great pic!
I really like Skodas. They look great for me.
It's a shame that the VW group don't sell them in my country.

I use the same clip on every SAK that I pocket carry, as long as it has a keyring.  :tu:

Day 28 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Today the small blade opened a parcel with a new ship.
I really like the Dreadnoughts from the WW1 period.
This Queen Elisabeth will be assembled as HMS Warspite. A ship full of honours and history.
The others in my list are the german SMS Seydlitz and the, impossible to find, brazillian dreadnought São Paulo.

Hope you're back to normal in no time flat!

Y'awl showed some great pictures again. I don't remember when I last heard the name Skoda.

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 28

Slightly late check-in. I finally got to checking to see if these wire connectors would work with the 12/2 that much of my house is wired with. Of course, that necessitated stripping away some of the sheath and the filler paper.

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 29

Today I'm sharing a couple of minimal SAKs that aren't carriers, and that I haven't shown previously. At the top is another WWP Tinker, this time the "Jargon" version. It's joined by a lime green Spartan that is likely very similar to Hevy's orange one.

Day 29 Huntsman challenge

No use from me today. My wife has taken over the wood stove duties for a few days. Today she needed to use my tweezers to remove a tiny wood splinter. She has her own SAKs, but I believe that using mine was to help demonstrate the sacrifice she's making to help.

Day30 - Minimal SAK challenge

And just like that it is time for final group photo of all my challengers!

It was fun to participate and thanks to the co-challengers for their interesting posts.

My takeaway is that for my urban life, the lightweight, unobtrusive Waiter/Bantam combined with 58 for scissors on the keychain are great and more than sufficient!

I will still keep the Cybertool M in my notebook bag to be ready for the trully unexpected (this is as far as my preparedness goes), there is my Forester Wood for hiking/camping but if going to the city without a bag then only the W/B + 58 combo is  with me.

Day 29 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Late post.

Spartan's small  blade opened a package with a small bead for one of my wife's knifes.
(The boiling head in a cauldrom is a joke with her, always worried with so many "to do" )
I attached a keyring only for testing purposes. A good lanyard will be the installed as soon she decides on what knife she wants It.

Warning: this will be a pretty long post.

First and foremost, thanks to all my fellow challengers for making this a fun challenge with a lot of variety. Y'awl have well and truly earned your chosen badges!

As this challenge is coming to a close, I will share some thoughts on SAK minimalism. Like Z1913, I have found a minimal SAK is capable of performing many of the tasks I expect to tackle. Rarely did I find myself wanting for a tool not found in one of my minimal SAKs (though I'll not be able to say that when I hopefully head outdoors later in the year). A Compact, or a larger SAK paired with a Classic SD, would make a great choice for urban/suburban dwellers and travel.

During the course of this challenge, I found myself reaching for the Bantam quite frequently. It is an absolute joy to use! Part of that is due to the combo tool, which I wish Victorinox would utilize more extensively. The rest is due to its light weight, slim profile (that still fits good in the hand), excellent utility for its size, and good looks. I now believe everyone should own an Alox Bantam. More on that coming in the future.

That said, it's now time for...

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 30

I'm finishing this challenge in the manner I started it: seeking a feline opinion. Sophie's verdict? "It's not quite as good as paracord, but it'll do. Oh, wait...you meant the SAK?"

Day 30 Huntsman Challenge

Opened some more safety seals today, not much else going on for me. The huntsman was still standing by ready for whatever.
So during the 30 days with the huntsman I've had no complaints. A couple of times I wished I had a universal scaler, but it worked out. It will stay in the edc rotation, but the champ and farmer will keep the top 2 spots. The huntsman is definitely a great knife.  :tu:

Great posts and photos this months guys. Congrats on completing the challenge! It's been a fun challenge.

Bonus day, the huntsman helping out with bacon production. I managed to get 2 lined up for a photo at least!
