Fishing MT
« on: October 21, 2021, 02:51:34 AM »
So, I have a Rockland fishing MT that I bought a few months ago on ebay, primarily because it was rusty. I had decided that I would try to buy used Leatherman MTs and wanted something cheap to practice rust removal and renovation.

Well, I forgot about it until recently. Nothing about it seemed remarkable or even very good. However, the frame is as wide as and even longer than a Super Tool. Plenty of room for tools. I decided to fix it up to put in my grandson's and mine tackle box.

After doing several mods, I had plenty of tools to use to improve the Rockland.

Here the list of tools original to the Rockland:

Fish scaler/file
Can opener
Tweezers
A weirdly shaped awl
Poor quality scissors with a missing spring
Ruler with a fish hook file  (badly rusted)
Medium straight driver
Phillips driver
Bottle opener with large straight driver
Spear point blade

Here is what it has now:

Saw from a Core
Scissors from a Suspension
Rockland bottle opener/straight driver
Rockland Phillips driver
Serrated knife from a Core
PST file
Rockland medium straight driver
Rockland awl (reshaped)
Rockland can opener with sharpened edge
Rockland tweezers
Rockland spear point blade

I think it will work for fishing trips.

That's the way to make a tool to suit your needs  8) :like:

I went the cheap route and just swapped a PE blade into a PST II  :D
