Multiforce knife - Part II

I had a bunch of MT parts sitting around and decided to make another knife. I find that the Multiforce is a great platform for this type of mod, so I turned yet again to one of its handles for today's knife.

I used parts from the Rebar (Phillips driver, large straight driver, awl, lanyard ring), the Multiforce (frame and scales, PE blade, saw blade, can opener, medium straight driver), and a Mossy Oak from Walmart (scissors). The Rebar parts had to have the pivot hole enlarged 1/64" (0.4 mm). Otherwise, the parts dropped in (the scissors required a touch of grinding).

The tools that need to be locked (Phillips driver, large straight driver, awl) were installed on the end of the tool with the back lock with no modification needed. The other tools (scissors, lanyard ring, medium straight driver, and can opener) were installed on the other end that formerly connected to the Multiforce plier head. They do not lock, but have detent due to the backspring (which I bent some to increase detent). The scissors and medium straight driver reside underneath the awl and Phillips driver. Also, the spring for the back lock has a tab that serves as a rest for the Multiforce plier head. It works great as a rest for the Phillips driver.

The scales were distressed by alternatively and repeatedly using vinegar and salt, hydrogen peroxide, ferric chloride, and a torch. I then diluted some black nail polish with acetone and painted the scales. 600 grit sand paper was used to remove the nail polish, leaving it in the recesses.

Merit Badges Must post a step by step pictorial of a knife or MT Mod, done by you that includes changing the main chassis of the tool in a significant way. By machining, welding or cutting original design to accept new tool loads. Requests will be reviewed.

I was lucky to have the tools available that would fit together compactly. There was not a lot of effort on my part to make it work.

If you do decided to take it apart, you will find it a good platform to work with.
If you don't take it apart, you will find that it is a pretty good MT. Definitely better than the NXT.

I can tell from just holding it that it is better than the NXT :whistle: The NXT was fine but I sure am glad to not have to carry it :D
