ASK Knife Based Multitool
on: November 16, 2021, 06:33:03 AM
Greg Medford is introducing a new knife based multitool. All of the parts will be made of CPM steel and its modular. Nothing on the site right now but he has information on Instagram. Initial price is US $240. It is a slip joint with a blade under 3”. Here’s a picture from there.

Looks interesting. I like the modular idea...the price, not so much.

Agreed.  Looks interesting but probably won't fly too far at that price.

The SAK and multitool people probably won't buy it, but the Medford fans might :dunno:

That's expensive for a multitool, but isn't much of a fuss in the knife world, so I assume he'll sell out from his fan base  :dunno:

After all, they've been buying giant folding pry bars all these years  :pommel:

I agree. It’ll sell well within the knife community. Most middle and high end production lines are more than $200 now with Medfords going for $600+. Chris Reeve knives start at $350 and even a lot of Spydercos are now more than $200 with some over $400.

I think his market is the knife community. They already pay for titanium scales and custom SAKs that cost more than that. I admit to having three customs by Robert Jessard that cost more than that.

Just checked Medford’s live stream and the price is $240.

As someone who has paid $400 for a knife (CRK / Benchmade Anthem) and who has bought a buckload of Ti-Edc-Gadgets I have no problem with the price.
However, I don't see any appeal. There is nothing in the design that is new... well, maybe the modularity (lets see how that goes). LIke the MKM Malga 6 it seems nothing but another SAK with more expensive materials.

That said, I really hope this is not as bland as it looks.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I agree. If he adds a bit driver and very good scissors I think it’ll do well. I was hoping he’d add a lock, at least for the blade.
