Just lost another good friend.

My partner's cat Tigger finally succumbed to old age. She was 19 or 20 years old and she died this morning rather peacefully. We figured it was around 2 am, about the same time I was inexplicably woken up at my house. When I lost both of my cats a few years ago, Tigger really helped lessen the blow as I still had her in my life. We had a routine in the morning. She would do her toiletry, then eat from her bowl. She would then come over and play with my feet for a minute or so and then jump up on the couch. If it was winter time, she would give me that look that told me she would like to be swaddled in a blanket. Then, when I ate my breakfast, she would ask for some and I would hand feed her some meats. It was quite the routine. This past week, the routine slowly dissolved. We both knew she was nearing her time. Yesterday was the worst. I said my goodbyes before heading to work as her mobility was almost nonexistent. Last night was a bit terrible. We both shed tears and knew she would probably not survive the night. I am told by my partner that she somehow got off of the couch as she did checks on her. She found her in the small adjoining storage room where she would sometimes like to lay in the summertime. At around 4 am, I got the call to come over next door. She was found laying in the entryway and had passed on. She figured it would be around 2 am which was the time I woke up for no known reason. I am not a religious man, but I would like to think she said her last goodbyes to me. It is a somewhat comforting thought. We both will not be getting anymore pets. I couldn't find a Vet in town that was willing to take on a new customer. So that will be it for both of us. I am going to miss her dearly.
Here is a photo of her taken earlier this year.

Sorry to hear about Tigger. My sympathies to you both.
Some pets have a way of worming their way into your heart, and it really hurts when they go.

Thanks for the kind sentiments everyone. Time marches on, and being here before, I know that this will become less painful. Still sucks though.

Sorry. Chako.
It's not easy but as many say...we can be thankful for the time they have given us. Beautiful cat.
