Built in pinch guard? I'm confident I would be able to pinch myself with most pliers - including that one.

Having only recently discovered just how nice Knipex pliers are, I also only recently discovered that the patent has expired long ago, and there are a ton brands that make "Cobra" style water pump pliers and plier wrenches with the teeth and the button and everything. Most even have red dipped handles. :ahhh

That is what happens when you release them into the wild. And due to self-locking they can't release without help.

I still carry my mini Knipex Cobras everyday, but I sometimes switch it out for my mini Knipex Pliers Wrench.

The 6" Pliers Wrench is truly an amazingly useful tool. So versatile.
And the small bolt cutters are also great.

Having quite a few knipex tools, I think I use the Cobra 180 the most
I rarely do "big jobs" that really need the 250, and the 150 has the same jaw thickness as the 180 so it cannot do "smaller things"

Being no mechanic I rarely use the pliers-wrench as an actual wrench... But a lot as parallel press/pliers

But when I need to cut nails or even screws, 61 01 200 is the best tool available : much faster than with a metal saw, and it's the only pincers-like cutters that can actually cut bolts and screws.

Just opened up a Cobra XS. It’s smaller than expected. I haven’t used it on anything yet so I can’t comment on how it works.

At the back of my mind I’m thinking if I should have bought the Cobra 125.

No you don't.
XS allows for very precise work that 125 can't ;-)
I don't use either my 125 or my 150 ... Only XS (100), 180, and 250 depending on size needed

I find the XS much better than the 125. I use the 150 for bigger jobs.

I don't have a 100 for comparison, but I find that the 125 does a find job and fits in my pocket well.

Not enough money to do a Water-pump pliers Comparison. Tempting though. But I am happy with the XS, 125 and 150 knipex ones I got, so no rush to get more. Maybe a 250 some day.

Regarding my take on the Cobra XS, I think I found a good reason to have one as part of a primary kit: simply coz it fits in the front pocket of a ‘large’ LM nylon pouch.

This picture has a bit kit with adapter in the back pocket, ST300 at the middle, and the Cobra XS up front (and Vic scissors outside).

The 150mm size Cobras are self-locking, but I presume the 125mm don't, correct?

what do you mean by self locking ? grabbing the surface as you push? they all are, even the 100 (XS)

In a ¨shocking¨ turn of events, I just ended up paying for a second Cobra XS

Not sure where I´ll keep it or what it will be paired with, but from the usual USD40 it sells for here, it was down to USD30 so I just couldn´t resist.

I dare say that as long as the teeth are sharp, the Cobra XS can handle stuff above its weight.  I used it to turn quick release hose connectors (made of plastic) which is well above the max diameter of the jaws.

Its a manifestation of my subconscious mind's attempt to distract me from the sad reality that I will never play leapfrog with Caroline Catz or walk on the moon.

I'm joking -  but only barely.   :tu:
