STAG HANDLE Model

The Carbon V also came with a stag handle (Model 16S) and a brown leather sheath.
Overall Length: 14 1/2"
Blade Length: 9 1/2"
Blade Steel: Carbon V
Blade Thickness: 5/16"
Handle: Sambar Stag (deer) with brass guard and butt plate
Sheath: Brown leather

The original 16S models had the black and silver boxes and the brown leather sheath had the retention strap across the handle not across the guard as did later models. Later models had the blue boxes.

What I could find online, but no value though.

I am not an expert on Cold Steel however what I believe you have there is Generation 1.  Have a look at this site

https://bladeforums.com/threads/history-of-cold-steel-trail-masters-and-recon-scout.1567738/

The steel is Carbon V and there was some debate on who came up with it.  I believe Dan Maragni came up with the steel and its heat treat.  Phil Gibbs has said this and was a designer at Camillus, that said I refer you to the site I linked.

Id say the knife would fetch good money.  I don't have a value for you.

Wonderful knife thats for sure.

Hola Aloha ,

Thanks for your Post , when i see that right in your Link  than i have a Gen 1 Knife in a Gen 2 Sheath but i dont belive that :

Sheath: Brown leather. Early Gen 1’s have the strap that goes around the handle, while later ones may have the strap that goes over the guard. Gen 2’s have the strap that goes over the guard.

As with anything production from one Gen to another could have some cross over.  Its a lovely blade and for those who collect Cold Steel one for their collection.  Our resident Cold Steel experts should be along to let us know more information.

Thank you for posting this lovely knife.
