Day21 - Minimal SAK

Only letter opening for the Rambler today.

I took the picture for today with another piece from Switzerland - the Swiss railway clock.

Day 21 huntsman challenge

Not much to report today. I did use the can opener to remove the little annoying plastic seal under the cap on a new can of ballistic. Ballistic is a great lubricant and rust inhibitor. It's also one of the necessary ingredients in moose milk, a water oil mix to clean black powder residue.

I spent all day going to VA for dentist appointment.
It takes me 15 minutes to get to the VA on a bad day!

That is a pretty sweet clock. None of mine are that cool.

They can be some pesky little smurfs, those plastic seals. At least your black powder firearms will be nice and clean after shooting!

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 21

No use today, so here's an older photo of the black Pioneer. The beer came from ALDI, and was surprisingly good!

That would be nice. Actually the local clinic is only 35 minutes from me. For dental, hearing aids, speSmurfpillst and optometry it's Saginaw.
On the plus side there's 2 trout streams less than 5 minutes from me and I can shoot off the back porch  :tu:

I'll have to see if Aldi has Hefewiesen. I used to enjoy that when I was in Germany.

Day22 - Minimal SAK

Only one minor task for the Rambler - removal of staples with the file tip, went OK.

For the picture, I decided to continue with the country specific theme, but for the viewing pleasure of the US based co-challengers, I am moving from Switzerland to the US.

I put together small assortment of Americana - I actually lived in the US for some time (my company send me there for couple years) and these things revive the great memories for the great country!

Good trade-off for a long drive to the VA, if you ask me!

I actually lived in the US for some time (my company send me there for couple years).
Looks like they sent you to New York or New Jersey. I've been to the former, but not the latter.

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 22

I had a chance to compare and contrast the can opener and combo tool today. Both do the job nicely, but I prefer the combo tool for opening cans. As an aside, I realized last night that I'd been uploading photos for three weeks into a new year without changing the copyright date in my watermark.   That has now been corrected.

Day 22 Huntsman challenge

Today I used the scissors to open vitamin c packets and the hook to remove pill bottle cotton. My daughter is down with the virus so busy taking care of her and trying to make sure the wife and I don't catch it!

Nice collection.  :tu:
I went to Army Basic Training in New Jersey in 1987, never went back. Been to NY state quite a few times, but only ventured I to NYC once. I'm not much of a city guy.

I have never been very good at can opening with the combo tool. Probably just need more practice after years of using the regular can opener. I could probably use the regular opener in my sleep.

Late post.

No uses today for the Spartan. But the minichamp scissors helped to cut some threads. I was (trying to) stitching some leather for a project...

Day 23 Huntsman challenge

This morning I used the large blade to prepare brussel sprout hash for breakfast. The blade is perfect for slicing those little cabbages. Also had fresh eggs from the henhouse and BACON from our large black/old spot cross hogs.

Day23 - Minimal SAK

I tried to tighten a screw on my son's bow with the Bantam - the combo tool fit nicely into the head of the large Pz screw, but I was not able to reach proper torque to fully tighten it so I reverted to regular screwdriver.

I hope she makes a fast and full recovery!

Great photos again, y'awl! Now time for mine...

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 23

Early this morn, I was asked to put detergent in the dishwasher and turned it on. Had to grab the silver Pioneer to break the cap free and remove the crud that collected therein.

Day 23 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Today the opener layer of the Spartan helped to pry open some parts of my Gerber FIT. As many Gerber, good idea, not so good execution.
The Fit is a neat knife that helped me many times. The flashlight + screwdriver was very usefull many times when working in tight spaces with lack of proper light.
The flashlight button broke (2nd pic). Hope I can fix It. But my record with electronic components is terrible.
The knife part is next to my Gerber Armbar for sake of size comparation . (In the Fit all big tools lock).

I'm likely not much better. Working with small and fiddly pieces isn't exactly my forté.

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 24

I've said before, and I'll say again: one of my favorite SAK uses is opening a box containing more SAKs. Today the black Pioneer opened such a box, containing a red Pioneer and some other goodies. Thanks to SurgeUK for putting it together!  :woohoo:

Day 24 Huntsman challenge

A little late, I couldn't get this to post last night  :dunno:

Today the huntsman did the usual chores, cutting baler twine, opening feed sacks and being along for support.

Day 25 Huntsman challenge

Snow here for the past few days, so today was clean up day. Although it continued to snow most of the day it got up to 14°f, so almost a heatwave! I even cleared the snow off the shooting range. The huntsman was along for the ride, but not needed for snow removal.
I used the large blade to cut some rope I needed to secure a gate.

Day 26 Huntsman challenge

Today is day 6 of my daughter's CVD 19. Great news, she started feeling a lot better this morning. On the flip side I woke up at 2am this morning, chills, fever, pounding head and congested head and chest, coughing my self silly. That was a rapid onset! I'm sure I'll be fine, but chores in 5° this morning wasn't fun. Luckily the huntsman was there to provide moral support. I used the small blade to open the smurfing safety seals on some vitamin bottles. The hook pulled out all the cotton.

I sure do like both coffee and beer. In the case of the latter, the darker, the better.

Those little smurfs are a pain, but I'm glad your daughter is feeling better.
