I am very satisfied with the combo tool - usualy more than adequate for the what if situations, I do not feel the need for full opener layer in the urban setting.

Looks like it works well for keyboard maintenance.

Day 3

Nothing too exciting here. I cut some more bale twine and used the small blade to unwrap some mineral blocks. I also cut my midmorning stollen with the large blade.

I found my Opinel bellow some winter clothes.
Excellent! Glad to hear it's safe and sound.

I am very satisfied with the combo tool.
Me, too. I was surprised by how quickly I ripped open a can with one.

I just used the SC to open a decade box...
I've never heard the term "decade box." What purpose does it serve?

Made a few contacts on 10 meters...
Ham, I'm assuming? I have a portable shortwave set, but my neighborhood sucks for shortwave reception

I also cut my midmorning stollen with the large blade.
Looks good! Reminds me that I have some cinnamon bread that needs to be finished.

Day 3

The Chromecast's remote needed some new batteries. To speed up opening the little two-pack, I broke out the silver Pioneer. Order was soon restored!

Thanks guys!
I like this little Opinel above most of my knives. Maybe due the craftmanship, the smell of the wood, the tradition...
Glad to have It back.

My two cents about the Bantam: Really nice and pocketable knive! I'm a Combo Tool fan. In fact I prefer the combo tool over the traditional opener layer.
I had one Bantam Alox, but my mom asked me to give her the small knife. She love's It.
It's her every day knife to small tasks like peel a fruit or open a package.
I always see her using the knife with a smile in the face.

Being that there is multiple challenges going on in this one thread. There really should be a separate thread for each challenge  :pok:

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 4

This Rally came to me with a blade so dull it couldn't cut paracord. After much work with the Victorinox pull-through sharpener (some of it poorly done; I blame unfamiliarity with the equipment), it now cuts paracord with one or two passes. Though the blade is functional again, it sure is ugly. Both blade and scales will be replaced down the road.

Day 4 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Today, the Compact opened a pack of biscuits for breakfast and a pack of pasta for dinner.
I visited today a old workshop with some vintage machines.
I pictured the Compact with the plate of machine from the 50's still working and helping to make the job done.

Day 4 Huntsman challenge

Today I used the can opener while putting together some venison chili in the slow cooker. The rest of the day was spent canning venison.

Day 5 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Today I am switching from the Alox Bantam to the most unusual and very minimal SAK from my stable - Baker's knife (not really sure if this qualifies as SAK - maybe rather say knife made by Victorinox).

Already two uses in the morning - removing tags from new shoes and cutting bread. I will carry the knife for several next days - I am curious how it will perform.

Never used the Vic sharpener. But I'm considering buy one.
Over the time I aquired some 54mm SAKs with very dull edges. Usually I sharpen them with the Vic orange stone.

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 5

During a recent dresser clean out, I found a couple of unfinished paracord projects. With the black Pioneer (and a lighter), I got them finished. I usually partially gut the tails and crimp the melted ends with SwissChamp pliers...but in the spirit of this challenge, I used my thumb and forefinger for the blue one.

Day 4 of 30,,, Minimal SAK Challenge

Well,,, I haven't been sick since November 2019,,,,, until today. I guess cutting the tree out of the road in cold rain and wind on Monday was just too much for my system. Gotta go get a Covid test too to satisfy work. No reason to suspect it though. My wife and daughter both have colds and have tested negative. Still sucks. I have spent the afternoon giving them the guilt trip for getting me sick too. Had a good run,,, can't praise daily Echinacea enough!!

No real uses today. Did attempt to open a piece of electronics with the flat head, but they were too tight and I didn't want to twist and damage the Vic.

Used the small and large blade today working on a new stopper for a powder horn. Also helped out braiding a  new lanyard made of sinew.
