I made myself this "Gentlemans knife" using tha spring and tools from an Excelsior
Brass and Desert Ironwood

Wow, I just went over this thread and am salivating. It seems to be a pattern.

1. Read MTO thread about specific tools.

2. Realize I need the tools I am looking at.

3. Start shopping for said tools.

Tnx, I try to learn something new with every new build. On this one I installed the scales by sliding them in from the sides. I made a 50 degree angle on the bolster and a 40 degree on the scale, making the bolster secure the scale from going up. This made it possible to only use the pin for the spring to keep them secure. Off course I used some glue to be extra safe :)
