Day 6/31

G'Day,

Today has been busy so far. Most of the duties was cutting: blade, scissors and "chisel thingy". The blade was used for a midmorning snack and then cutting the banana peels into small pieces to make an elixir to pour over my orchids. Scissors was used for box opening - rusks biscuits and Killer Python jelly sweets. The box was to difficult to cut through with the scissors and I ended up using the box cutter / chisel thingy to finish it off. The two plastic packets was no problem and I now have a decent stash of jelly snacks. I may end up doing the scissors mod to get it to open further, it is very sharp though. I also opened a SwissCard I bought for the girl-child's upcoming birthday.

There may be some further duties later today.

Cheers, Pete

I'm late with Day 5/30. Yesterday just ran away with me. So,I hope Barry will forgive me ! The Belt Cutter though made an excellent letter opener and really was like a knife through butter.

Day 6: Working on some studies, and using the Swisstool for a phone holder.  That 90 degree angle is useful for more than one thing :D

Day 6

A few weeks ago our friend was going from Kyiv and was able to bring my backpack full of camping stuff that hopefully will never be used for survival. Among the other there is my old and trusty LM Wave. Turns out one of the handle screws gone loose. Had to order T10 bits and wait for about a week for them to arrive, but finally was able to tighten it down. Now I’m pretty much ready to send my flawed Spirit for service :)

P.S.: and it once again show there is no perfect MT. I loved the idea of Spirit for the fit&finish, but turned out to be a myth in my unlucky case. LM has a lot of questionable feelings to it while used (like stiff pliers after 10 years of use, scratched skin when you use the screwdriver because of the sharp part of the saw blade etc), but at least I do have a replacement pair of pliers for the Wave that I can install myself - it’s doable

Hopefully you won't have any issues and Vic will get it back to you better than new!  Luckily you were able to fix your Wave :D

Alexanderre, you're more than welcome to catch up with this challenge when you get your Spirit back.

Thanks, Barry, but surely it’ll take weeks if not months, so for now I’ll keep posting - I mean in any case I still don’t know how to send it away and waiting for the instructions from Victorinox

I think it happens to all of us at some point.

I haven’t tried the belt cutter as letter opened but imagine it works well.

It is such a shame that your Spirit arrived as it did, hopefully they fix it up quickly and properly.  The Wave is also a great tool and it is nice that they are user repairable and you were able to repair yours.

Today was another day giving evidence (no real use)  ::)

However, I was asked by a friend if I had any of the old uniform we used to wear (seperately)

Subsequently, I found this NATO style pullover lurking in my uniform wardrobe  :salute:
