Grullin Survival Kit.

I came across this survival kit on Amazon, and I must say, this one is a great little kit that covers a lot of basics with room to customize it to meet your needs.

This kit comes in a fairly nice zippered bag. I got the green, but there is also a tan on offer. The kit came with a Grullin Velcro badge, which is a nice touch. I added a Leatherman Charge ALX for size comparison.

There are a lot of inside elastic straps to help you pack everything away.

This kit comes with 2 interior packages. One for the water filter straw, and the other for everything else.

The water filter straw package contains the filter straw, a clear plastic water bottle with cap, and a syringe with included clear tubbing.

The other package contains a good assortment of survival items. You get a pair of bungee cord tie downs, a fire steel with scraping tool, a pair of fire kindling,  a 1AA LED flashlight,  a metal whistle, a wire saw, a folding manual fire blower, fishing line, and paracord. Included as well is a nice assortment of bandages and alcohol wipes, a plier based multi-tool,  and one of those metal card multi-tools that you take apart.

There is plenty of room to add to this kit. The bag is large enough to contain a lot more than what is given in this survival kit. The plier based multi-tool is of a generic design, however, I was very surprised at the sharpness of the knife blade. Quite often, these sort of tools come dull out of the box. Not exactly overly happy with the rough pattern on the handles where your hands go...but it will do in a pinch. Overall, I am impressed with this one.

A notable omission is a compass. Looks like a decent kit. Something like this is a good way to get a kit started if the price is right. Then replace or add items you are familiar with and know that works. Thanks for sharing.

Usually, these kits contain utter crap. However, this one looks to contain stuff that appears like it would actually hold up to actually being used.


On another note, these pouches are deceiving in what they can carry. I have both a Gerber "Sapper" pouch (EOD kit) and a Condor Sidekick, and both hold about twice what they look like they can. -

Nice, I have one similar just a little smaller, sorry for the crappy pic, but I have my shoulder bag and this one is Molle strapped to it with a medical cross to show that it is a fak,
