First custom SAK advice.

Building my first custom SAK. Here is the plan. Rambler with reorganized tools and added Spyderco blade. G10 liners and Titanium scales. I used a donor Rogue to get some extra springs. I noticed they are different than the Rambler. The seem to not interlock like the older Rogue. OK to mix and match? Also I am attempting to include an image of my layout. If anyone sees an issue with how it will work, please let me know. Any other advice for a noob?

From a scientific standpoint a SAK and a Spydie aren't the same species and therefore can't mate !

I did the same with the mix and match.  Just make sure that the same two stacked are the same type and you should be fine.  My other advice is to take your time and test things out.

Yes, but theres pair bond which is the strong affinity that develops in some species between a mating pair, often leading to the production of offspring!

Good advice on not mismatching pairs. That’s the route I was going to go. Got my donors all disassembled and my liners mostly cut out. Need to wait for acid etching.

Good blade mod. As I find the 8mm blade too flexible for certain tasks, I’d love a Rambler with a similar blade to the Spydie one.

That is going to be a great SAK. Definitely test as the guys said above. May have to lose a little “belly” on the Spyderco (see pic below), but you can be smarter than me and leave a small sharpening choil when your recreate the edge. I look forward to seeing your results.  :tu:

Progress so far. Made my liners, got my new brass rods ready to go and shaped the Spydie blade. Acid etching and stone washing next and I am ready to assemble.

Almost there. Acid etched and stone washed the tools today. Assembled the parts back together. Just need to trim the brass, hammer the puppy closed and put on some scales. Sharpening choil comment was great and I added one to the spydie blade. Hoping to post final pictures tomorrow.

Finished. Learned some lessons to get the action smoother next time but I think for a first attempt it’s pretty darn good!
