I've had something of an interest in knives for as long as I can remember. As a boy, my grandmother visited the States and brought me back a Kabar pocket knife, which sadly I've lost over the years.  When I joined the Scouts I had a sheath knife as part of the uniform and still have it now.  With its fixed 5" blade it would be illegal to carry now in the UK but even at 11 years old it was fine back then and was often on my belt.  Mind you, in the days youngsters didn't seem to use them as weapons and I can't remember anyone being injured.  My first 'multitool' was an 84mm  Victorinox Traveller ('President', I think, in America) which I bought in about 1968 and still have now (yes, I'm that old!).  In about '86 I bought a Champion c and now have three Pioneers and a couple of Cadets.  One of each are un-used limited editions which I'm probably going to sell.  I also have a Huntsman for which I have made wooden scales and leather sheath.  There are a number of other pocket knives, a couple of Gerber Multitools and some carving knives which I use for whittling.  I don't really need any more but there's always ones of interest which can be difficult to resist.

Thank you for the welcome.   I was pleased how the Huntsman turned out.  I came across a terific piece of wood which is extremely dense and heavy and has an extraordinary dark grain pattern.  Don't know what sort it is but I've made a couple of carving knife handles with it, and the scales for the huntsman.  The leather for the sheath is top quality and suits it well.  I thought it worth the effort for the knife as, to me, it is a great 'do it all knife.

Those carving knives are extraordinary! Seeing that kind of material and workmanship makes me wish I had such a nice material and the skill needed to put it on a traditional knife.

I can assure you that it's not that difficult.  One thing I didn't mention is that at the junction between the blade and the handle (the 'guard') I used pieces of black Buffalo horne with a slot shaped hole for the tange.  All the shaping done after gluing to the handle with epoxy.  Glad you liked them, they are great in use.
