Hello from the north of southern germany!
on: July 02, 2022, 11:50:41 AM
Hello everybody on MT.O

my name is Wolfgang, from lower franconia. That's geographically speaking the northern part of bavaria, which for itself  is the most southern country of germany.

Being a long-time lurker here, I read and searched (and found) a lot. This is a very nice, friendly and informative forum, and I like most of the style here. Some questions remain, however. Is zoidberg anyhow related to HPL'S Cthulhu? Why is kirky always to blame?  Or why does aloha live in california and not in Hawaii? You know, the essential questions in life

Speaking about life, I always had a soft spot for small things in my possession since being a kid. First, a knife. With an enormus blade length of 30 mm (or 1 1/4") and a bit dull, it posed no threat to anyone except some papers and wooden sticks... Then a light (or torch for the brits); I don't dare to call it a flashlight, even a glow worm would have trumped it... Finally, a lighter. Mine was a shrinked copy of a zippo with a height of 20mm and no petrol, but it threw sparks...

Well, that was 55 years ago, and I have better equipment now.  :climber: There's always my Swiss Champ XL at my side, my Lumintops better my earlier Maglite 3D, and my Zippos or S.T.Duponts Slim 7 use gas. As you may have guessed, I'm not only a user, but a collector also

But that's a different data crystal err story. So long for now :hatsoff:
Best regards and stay safe,

Wolfgang

Thanks for the nice welcome, all

McStitchy: well, of course. That's part and parcel of this kind of hobby. MT use started with Gerber Multi-Lite, MP650 and Urban Legend. Leatherman is represented by some Skeletools, a Surge (older style) and a Juice XE6. CRKT family nembers are Zillas, Guppies (small & large each) and a septimo tool. Not to forget all the smaller and smallest tools like LM Style and Squirt or the Gerber Dime, Utili-Key and such. I even got some tools from ToolLogic. And did I mention my SwissCard collection?

You see, it goes on and on, and most of these will be used in my tool rotation... So I think I could fit in this place ...
Best regards and stay safe,

Wolfgang

Oh, don't tell me about rabbit holes  Been there, done that, got no T-shirt   >:D

I've been an active member of some internet fora. CPF when they still had their MarketPlace, EDCF, a german knife forum to name a few. Most told me "Cling to your wallet!" or "Say good bye to your bank account". Well, they were right - partly at least. But you can learn from your mistakes... :dunno:

Today I found  a knife I was looking for some time on ebay. A SwissChamp XXLT. For 800 €. And the packaging was condition C at best. Thanks, but no thanks. Otoh, if somebody offers me a Canon TS-E 17 for 1100 €, I'd

Best regards and stay safe,

Wolfgang

Welcome aboard!

  :salute:

From what you said, you must be from central Germany, right?

Glad to have you around, we were missing someone from that part of the world.

More the northern part of the southern third, to put your assumption right  :hatsoff:

I always thought this could be sir vicalot, according to his sub line.
Best regards and stay safe,
