As far as I know, we don't have any challenges scheduled for August yet. I'll be traveling for vacation, so carrying a traditional SAK is a no go. Earlier this year, I picked up a Swisscard Nailcare for just such an occasion. Almost all the tools, but no knife to have security pester me about. We'll see how it stacks up to the Spartan I carried this month, along with other SAKs. If anyone else wants to join in, I'd love some company. I'll be starting a few days early (to line up with the beginning of my trip), but it seems easiest to just call it for August for most people. I think the Nailcare qualifies as bladeless for badge purposes, but anyone carrying a more traditional model is welcome as well.

I think I signed up for the Locks Up Challenge, but I'm not super excited about it.   I have a new Swisscard Lite sitting on the desk...

I'm on the Locks Up Challenge in August too, or I'd pick up a Swisscard and try this one.  Brilliant idea BP!

DAY 0

Finishing up packing for vacation and trying to prep for a job interview at the same time! The Swisscard Nailcare sort-of fits in my wallet, but not well. My wallet is also a decade old and I've been wanting to try a bifold, so maybe I'll find something to fit it better.

We have have 2 for the 3 of us. We may get my daughter her own once she's old enough to travel without us more. She borrowed mine when she went on a girls' trip with mom, and apparently tightened every screw she found.

Day 1

Sneaking this post in between a job interview and a thesis meeting. Scissors on the Swiss Card helped unpackage my new wallet, which it is now living in. We'll see how I like the bifold. Swiss Card fits snugly, but comfortably. Tomorrow is bon voyage!

I'm interested in this, especially as I'm going to be away (again) during August. After a period away from here I need to jump back in... And if the Nailcare does count for the bladeless badge...

I've carried my Nailcare on a few trips recently, although I have taken the scissors and quattro screwdriver out as I don't always trust airport security... Might have to give it a try this time.

I poked around and don't think I ever got official confirmation one way or the other. But even if there's no badge, it's a fun little personal challenge.

Day 2

Scissors helped cut out the copy of my passport I made so I could keep it in my wallet. Nice to have them back after the Spartan last month.

We used to have a local Vic dealer here that unfortunately went out of business.  It was my first chance to actually handle one of these.

Day 3

Used the scissors (I'm going to be disappointed if I get through this whole trip without using anything else) to trim some threads on my shirt. Here's the Nailcare looking tropical for vacation.

This thread is reinvigorating my desire for a nail care (among other models!) Had the original Swisscard since the 00s and it still serves me well to this day.

Enjoy your vacation!

Day 4

Would love to see some more people hop on if you can track one down in the next day or two. Today, used the toothpick as intended, and the magnifying glass to inspect a sting/bite.

Alas, I did not have the Swisschamp with me, because my wife asked, "That one doesn't have the metal file on it, does it?" when she bent a pair of tweezers. I'm pretty sure I counted at least 3 pairs in her luggage when we were packing, so she'll be fine.

I was looking at one a couple of years ago and again about six months ago.  The concept interests me.  My only issue is that it's really rare that I don't have at least a Classic or Minichamp on me.

Day 5

Wife borrowed the toothpick today, so we've got all of each other's germs now I guess.

Also used the tweezers to push the recessed button to set the alarm on my watch so we wouldn't miss the bus back from the aquarium. Casio apparently thinks my nails are much longer than they are, and this is a pretty common use for the tweezers on whatever SAK I'm carrying at the time.

Impressions at 5 days in, this is a great tool to take on a trip like this. It's gone through security about half a dozen times at this point without getting flagged once. I like to kind of think of it as a "plus scales" version of a Classic. It fits pretty well in my wallet, so if someone is ever looking to only carry their wallet and not lose their MT, it's fair for that. It is a little less convenient in terms of actually grabbing the tools themselves, which is the main reason I don't think it'll ever replace a traditional SAK for me. At this point, I've used about half the tools, with scissors currently in the lead, as expected. Missing the blade somewhat (the small blade can stand in for scissors better than the scissors can stand in for a blade) but that's just how it is when traveling these days.

Go on, I'll have a go.

Used the pen, first up. And I don't work for the City of London, that's just been aquired. :D

Day 6

Thanks Barry, it's a great conversation starter too. Usually have someone stop and ask me about it about once a week.

Michael, great to have you aboard.

Used the mag glass on the nailcare today. The salt water tarnished my wedding band a bit, which was kind of neat, since it highlighted the "seam" (not sure on terminology) where the ring was joined when they made it. It'll clean up easily enough when I get home.

Another scissors day. Trimmed some loose threads on my water shoes. Wife also used the tweezers on her card for some primping.

Great stuff, BPRoberts! I have a SwissCard permanently in my wallet and combined with the alox MiniChamp on my keys they have me covered in case I don’t have a larger SAK on me! The SwissCards are great especially if you can get them at a discount! Good luck for the rest of the challenge!

I was talking to my wife about getting a Shard or something to compliment it and give myself most of a traditional SAK toolset in a package that'll probably get through most security without too much fuss.

Day 8

Found a loose screw on a door handle and decided to take a crack at it. Hard to get much leverage with that little quad driver, so no luck. Just as well, I probably shouldn't be tightening strange screws that I don't know anything about.
