Yes, I know this violates both the politics and the religious rules on the forum, but putting that aside, a woman who has lead a remarkable life, whether you agree with it or not, is not doing well.

I would imagine, judging by the minimal info we have seen so far, that she will not be around much longer.

Again, regardless of how you feel, this is indeed a major event.

You're right.  She never really had a chance to live outside the limelight at all.  Her father passed away when she was so young.  The people who can actually remember the 40s and 50s are disappearing fast.

The Queen is dead, god save the King.

Anyone who knows me would know that I'm not a fan, as such, of the monarchy,  but the Queen was a dignified and important statesperson. I am saddened at her passing.
There is no beginning,or ending,and for this we are thankful,cos now is hard enough to understand!

Not a fan of the monarchy, but she was a hell of a stateswoman, probably one of a kind, and will surely be missed. RIP

As an American, I don’t really have an opinion on the monarchy, but always felt that the Queen was a class act; arguably, the very definition of the term.  And (again, as an outsider looking in) it seemed that she led a life dedicated to public service during her unprecedented 70 years on the throne.  RIP

Today at work, I was spoken to by a number of people visiting the UK (most for the first time)

It was apparent that they, the whole world?  both knew and respected her.

This was evidenced by the fact that, without exception, they all referred to her late Majesty as "The Queen" and not your Queen (or any other title) just "The Queen"

A truly global presence.
