Picture needed of Golfer or Salesman disassembled
on: August 05, 2022, 08:34:42 AM
I am in a bit of a bind and if any has a picture of an 84mm golfer, salesman, or small climber that is disassembled with a long nail file.  I would be very great full.

Thank you in advance  :woohoo:

I'm about to take an 84 mm Golfer with the long nail file apart. Is there something specific you'd like to see?

I didn't realize until after I removed it that the nail file also has a brass pin through it. It looked like a solid piece of stainless, so I separated it from the liners, realized my mistake, and then drilled out the pin.

First I want to thank you again for the picture.  Would it be possible if you still have your Golfer apart.  Could you take a picture of the nail file spring straight down.  I have to recreate mine and need a little more detail.

It's still apart. I haven't touched it in over a month!  :-[

Can you be more specific about what angles you need? I'm not sure what you mean by straight down.

Done!

A shoutout to "proletenstahl" again.  I was able to make a copy of the spring I needed.  It has been heat treated so that it has spring to it so as to not break when the scissors are opened.

Would you mind sharing your heat treatment process? I have never handled a LNF, does it have a standard snap like other tools?

Sure, once I was happy wit the design.  I cleaned it up and then heated it to the point it was no longer magnetic and then soaked it for another minute or so at the same temperature.  I then then quenched it in luke warm water.  I then cleaned it up again.  Then I heated it until it started to get a blue color to the steel.  I then quenched it again and did a final clean up on it.
