Why do people swap the rebar pliers onto the charge/wave?

I’m preparing to mod my Charge TTI and I’ve seen a lot of folks swap the rebar head onto others and I’m curious why? Is it more heavy duty?

It would be better to use the Plus plier head of the newer Wave/Charge series now if you want replaceable cutters :salute:

People did that before the Plus version came out but it really isn't necessary now :tu:

What other mods do you have planned

Before the “plus” versions existed, the Rebar featured replaceable cutting blades and squared needle nose tips. It was enough of an improvement for some to take the leap to swap the heads. Now it makes more sense to just buy the “plus” version.

Apparently Leatherman was taking note of the mods and gave the consumer what they were looking for. If you search, you can see many mods have been adopted into the Leatherman product designs, especially the limited addition “dark side.”
