Coughlan's Survival Kit.
on: August 12, 2022, 12:44:48 PM
Here is another survival kit I found at the Camping Store located at the Canadian Carver on Highway 17 North. This is a nice survival kit with plenty of room to expand or swap out items for better ones. The survival guide is a good one, and everything fits inside a nice dry bag.

I do like the travel sized rolls of duct tape
I added  2 of them to my EDC pack. Its the size of a 30pack of gum.

Two tricks, one I don’t have a pic of but you know those fake credit cards that they send you in the mail to join Well there perfect, just wrap them long ways with the duct tape and it makes a nice flat roll, yet another you can use as a key ring, but take a 2in cotter pin, slip the tape in between to get a good grip and then start wrapping, works great, only downer is over time the tape can kinda start falling because of gravity, the center still stays on the pin but if you don’t use any and it’s as large as I made them the outer starts to /|\ you can kinda see it on he top of the one to the right,,

I’ve done the credit card trick before and I’ve also used an old chapstick roll and Bic or Clipper lighter.  If you cut the guts out of the chapstick you can use it for storage like fire starting tinder or needle or water purifier tablet.

Nice work as always Chako.
I really like the idea of all that useful stuff- but would probably never be in a place to actually need it that I can imagine.  I have lots of equipment in my truck, and at home, and take pride in making use of what's at hand...
It does look like a pretty reasonable collection, and if I was ever stuck in the woods just that package would make life much more bearable!

I live in North Eastern Ontario where a 5 minute drive out of town means you are in the middle of nowhere. This is the perfect vehicle survival kit. Throw in some energy bars and some bottles of water, and one will be up for almost anything bad that could happen if you go off the beaten path.
