Hello, new member from Virginia.
on: August 25, 2022, 09:12:10 AM
Hi, my name is Mike. I’ve worked in the HVAC/Maintenance field for 30 years and always had some kind of Gerber or Leatherman througout my career. I’ve just recently started the “collecting” aspect of acquiring multitools, but for the intended purpose of using them. Though I had a Leatherman or two early on in my career, it had been mostly a plain ole Gerber that the company provided the past 10-15 years. Since falling into this rabbit hole, I’ve favored Leatherman and have enjoyed picking up and trying out some of the various models I’ve missed over the years. I look forward to interacting and sharing with you all in the forums.

Not quite sure, I’ve already picked up or have on the way ones that have intrigued me like the Pulse, Kick/Fuse, Mini Tool, Side Clip. I’ve had some of the newer staples like Wave, Charge, Rebar, etc. for a little while. I  guess I’ll be looking to snag some more vintage versions, maybe some of the larger tools.

I’m in Richmond, technically Henrico. Lived in this area all of my life basically.

Welcome Mike. You are in the right place  :drink:

Given my user name, it will come as no surprise that I second Aloha with my love of the Surge

Ahh, a fellow HVAC/P, I mastered sheet metal in high school while studying HVAC/P, I then took two years of college, the funny part was in some cases I knew more then the teacher cause I had already knew stuff and worked in field, I’d argue with him and the rest of the class would lean back in their chairs and put their feet up, and say “oh it’s going to be a good one” cause the teacher was book smart, yet who had his own service, he was know as “the plumbing doctor, still making house called” all because he had a doc degree in plumbing, yet his van and tools, we took a little walk out to it one day, it was soooo clean you could eat your lunch off the floor! Ah huh.. one day he had us make a run of 3/4” black nip, I had them done in under 5min without turning the pipe threader off, he was like no it’s not possible, so the whole class gathered around my pipe threader and I cut and thread a whole run in under 5min again without turning the machine off, as everyone was like holy crap, I turned the machine off and turned to the teacher and said “see all done, your turn”! I think he took over 20min and he couldn’t stand the fact that his hands were getting dirty! Lol..
Anyway, welcome aboard!

I’ve been eyeing the larger tools, but prefer the regular sized variants. I do have a Super Tool 300, but honestly don’t carry it as it just feels too bulky for my tastes. If I need to tackle anytning more than a regular MT can handle, I’m gonna grab a tool pouch anyway, which I have a few setups of those stashed at home, in truck, and of course at work along with my Veto setup.
