Owner of Hogue Knives killed in plane crash

Aaron Hogue of Hogue Knives was killed in a fatal crash a few days ago. The cause of the crash is unknown.

I don't know Aaron myself, but it's always sad to lose someone in the industry, and, at 61, it seems too soon.

That is too bad. I sure hope the NTSB investigation finds a mechanical failure, because otherwise, it looks to me like that plane was flown right into the ground. You know it has happened before.

Very sad to read of this tragedy. Planes and speed and racing on a tight course leaves little opportunity to make corrections.
A good friend raced P51s, said he blacked out exiting a turn, does not know how he remained flat and straight, left the race, landed and has NEVER flown again.
He said he need only one warning sign to quit.
Answers will likely never be found.

Hope yours is as good!

The NTSB is pretty good at determining causes of accidents. But this could be a case where the cause is listed as "a loss of of control of the aircraft for reasons that could not be determined," or similar words to that effect.
I've seen video of the crash, and some commented that it "looks like G-LOC" (loss of consciousness from excessive G-forces). Though I highly doubt (m)any of said commenters have flown such an aircraft or competes in an air race, G-LOC is a distinct possibility if the investigation reveals no more readily apparent causes.

Pretty interesting stuff. I wasn't aware he was racing and doing what he enjoyed. I didn't read the initial article.
Seems any number of things could have gone wrong. Very unfortunate and sad.
