Salvage a MiniChamp

Dear all,
I just purchased a used MiniChamp and it appears that the scales have been glued on with epoxy - kind of a lot... My intention was to turn it into something of a Vagabond, by getting rid of the nail file and the cuticle pusher, and rearranging the tools.
So what would you suggest for removing / loosening the epoxy without causing too much damage to the scales?
The scales appear to be older style (i.e. not hollow) and there is no pen. I would try to keep the scales. Interestingly, the tools indicate a modern MiniChamp.

I'd your tied to those scales, and I'm not sure you need to be since you're heavily altering the knife, you could just get new scales with slots for tools, too.  You could splurge on custom scales if that's in-budget and/or your thing.

I think I will change the scales in the end, also because they are a bit worn and cracked.
I am also considering an alox classic as a donor for scales.
